Interestingly, Eurosport (yes i know that's not F1 related) only went widescreen in 2009... and we have Motors TV STILL refusing to go HD, despite the fact that they carry a lot of high profile events that are shot in HD.
There were a few years of LeMans switching between Eurosport 1 HD and Eurosport 2 (not HD), which if nothing else made it blindingly obvious just how poor the SD quality was on some Sky channels. |

Baku GP qualifying is likely to moved to More4 due to clashes with the Royal Ascot, another FOM cock-up there as well with it also clashing with Le Mans 24h.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good news for ITV though, despite losing WRC rights they have signed rights to show highlights of the World Rallycross Championship on Tuesday evening's at 8pm. As well as that every round of the season will be shown free to air on the Eurosport owned QUEST channel which is fantastic news and and important one for the series. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

The Le Mans clash wasn't ideal, and that's the kind of clash they should think about, although it looks like it will be possible to watch both with the F1 start time having been pushed back. |

That's true re. the first one actually, and my complains weren't focused on Fuji, I don't know why everyone suddenly though I was referring specifically to them.

I think it's because your post mentioned Japan and Monaco.

It gets a bit ridiculous if they're transferring it around all these different channels. |

Motors TV ceases on Freeview channel 71 Quote:
The move, which took place at midday on the 1st February, came unannounced, in contrast to the blaze of publicity heralding the channel's arrival on channel 71 back in October 2014. As well as still being available on the freeview connected channel 240, its also still available on sky 447 and Virgin 545
Motors TV's signal on channel 71 had around 70% population coverage and was available in standard definition in households with DVB-T2 compatible receivers, such as Freeview HD or YouView devices. Viewers took to social media to complain about the unexpected change and searching for answers about the removal of the service. So far, the channel has remained silent about the changes. Motors TV was available 24/7 on Freeview channel 71, although when it first launched viewers were told that it would switch to a part-time service - something that never materialised, despite being referenced to on the Freeview website. Parallel to regular over the air transmissions on Freeview channel 71, Motors TV has been available as a streamed channel, available on compatible devices connected to the internet. Since Monday, viewers are being redirected to this remaining streamed channel service, which is found on channel 240. A reliable and preferably unlimited broadband connection of around 2.5 Mbps or more is required. http://www.a516digital.com/2016/02/m...hannel-71.html |

It would be nice to see Channel 4 do a Sunday MORNING show for Australia given that the race is now an hour earlier. BBC used to show highlights from around 5pm for Euro races - 4 hours after the live start - so that would be 9am I think for Australia. I'm not sure whether they are allowed to do a full length re-run (obviously with ads) or how much has to be cut out to class it as highlights ? The same could apply to Japan probably.

Probably a small thing considering all the things C4 need to get in place, but I was wondering about the theme tune they'll use.
When ITV nicked the contract from BBC they were told that BBC had the rights or something like that, to the Chain. This time, seeing as BBC decided to give up on their contract, I wonder if they'd let C4 use the Chain. F1 won't be the same without it |

The Chain is the BBC's thing. C4 are going to want to establish their own brand image.
Re: Australia, I imagine C4 would do at lunchtime, being the time that most of the live races will be on. |

Radio 5 Live will still be using the chain I'm sure - maybe they can unremix it...

A morning showing of Australia would be nice because we could watch it with less likelihood of knowing the result. There's room across the channels for an afternoon show too. We can dream. It'll probably end up in the usual afternoon slot only.

Oh dear, do we have to switch channel so a major event enjoyed by a large number of people can be aired over a preliminary event of another sport loved by a large number of people? However will we cope at not feeling the most special?
You'd best put me on suicide watch ! Jp |
