Nope, it's in 720p HD at it's highest quality (depends on your bandwidth).
Not bad at all. Just paid my £11 for China. |

Does anyone remember when the first season of the (2010) FIA GT1 World Championship had it's main TV broadcaster (in Europe at least) as that well-known Motorsports channel Bloomberg?

Interestingly, a Saturday qualifying race proposal is now being considered again (despite it being rejected at first because broadcasters didn't like it as it would impact on their advertising revenue - as they can currently put adverts between each of the 3 quali segments).

I hope it doesn't happen. The race should be the main event of the weekend; another short race on Saturday just dilutes it. |

No. But SRO do like to do things differently. I can see why SRO chose Bloomberg. It's bang on in terms of the right demographic for sportscar buyers. Wealthy individuals who love a shiny toy.
Same way Superleague Formula, Formula E and all those sort end up on multiple, often random channels. |

I was freelancing at Bloomberg at the time. My job at the weekend was to get the feed from BT Tower and switch it to line when it started. Easy money!

That's simply not true. Last year Monza, Spa and Suzuka were all shorter than 90, and five more were shorter than 92.

I think you might be over-analysing it a bit by going in to demographics and the like! SRO’s attitude has always seemed to be to give it away free to anyone who’d want to show it, and by the nature of Bloomberg, they had nothing to show at the weekends, so it filled up a bit of time.

The Reason why Singapore is the longest race on the calendar is that Singapore gets regular interruptions by the safety car
The safety cars just tend to ensure the race goes the 2 hr distance rather than the lap distance. |

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/10/2.../averagespeed/ And unlike Monaco they don't shorten the race distance. Personally I think they should; 2 hours is too long. |

It's because the average speed is lower:

Personally i think Singapore needs to have less laps and why they continue to have as many knowing there is a HUGE chance of a SC coming out and ending it at the 2h mark is in need of a fix!

Surely Singapore is longest because of the fact that you have Spa-type lap times but instead of 44 laps, there are (I think) 60?

I'm not 100% certain on this, but all of the race distances are based on around 300km hence why you could have a 2 hour race at Singapore and a 1 hour 20 minute race at Monza.
A Grand Prix race has traditionally been 300km & the number of laps each event has is based around going to the 300km (Or 2 hour) limit. Singapore's 61 laps is 308.828 km, Monza's 53 laps is 306.720 km. |

It's basically the amount of (racing) laps needed to get over 300km within 2 hrs, isn't it?
I think 260km of Monaco is enough, if it was 300km, the races would be well over the 2 hr time limit. |

With the exception of Monaco, which is closer to 260km (thanks google).

Stumbled upon the FIA WEC Paid Streaming Guide for 2016 on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/wec/comment...reaming_guide/
Cross platform access (members.fiawec.com) costs: 4.99 Euros to view a single 6 hour round live. 24.99 Euros all for the 6 hour races. 34.99 Euros for the 2016 season including Le Mans 24h. The WEC is also shown on Motors TV (Except LM24) and Eurosport/Eurosport player. The European Le Mans series remains free to view online on Dailymotion. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2m...2016-live_auto |

No James Allen moderating the press conference today. Haven't a clue who they used instead.

Seems to be two or three new camera angles that I don't remember FOM ever having before at this track. Very nice.
Shame they completely missed Magnussen's tyre explosion though. |

There is however a F1 report show every week on Wednesday nights which used to be only after race weekends last season. It's one of the stronger Sky shows IMO, with a more varied roster of guests than the race weekends |
