Now Music Still Displays Pedo Song
Jonathan1990
19-01-2016
Not a necessary post to make but a song by the pedophile Gary Glitter made Now That's What I Call Music 3 in summer 1984. It was displayed on the Now Music Book that came out in 2014 for Christmas. After his 16 year sentance last year I thought that Now Music would remove it from the 2015 edition. It still got put down on the list for Now 3 though. Now Music also display the song on their apps for people to listen to when they choose Now 3. A friend of mine downloaded an app and the song came on whilst he was driving his car. Just posted this to see if people think that Now Music should remove the song like or keep it.

It still exists, and was on the tracklist.

Two Little Boys will forever be on the list of Xmas Number ones.

Jimmy Savile will forever be the first ever TOTP host.

You cant airbrush history.

Listening to a song won't turn you into a kiddie fiddler.
Don't fret.

Too true. I wonder when the BBC last played "Only Sixteen" (Craig Douglas) and "You're Sixteen" (Johnny Burnette) both with extensive covers.

The back catalogue is full of songs that would now be considered suspect.

It took years for USA ice hockey teams to stop using Garry Glitter tracks at their stadiums. He still earns a fortune in royalties from their continued use all over the world.

Didn't MJ pay lots of money so that his kiddie fiddling past didn't come back to haunt him? I'm sure there's a case for MJ to be declared a pedo and his music out of bounds.

I've just had a brilliant idea......

They should set up a body to receive and administer royalties that are directed to them by a judge as part of a criminal sentence...........which could then be used for charitable purposes

So, eg Garry Glitter could have been sentenced to 15 years in nick and 15 years forfeit of royalties which would be paid into the charitable body

That way radio stations etc could still play the old records and the money would go to charity for the duration of the sentence

I understand editing out his performances of Top of the Pops repeats and not playing him on the radio, but pretending he never existed is just silly. There's no need to pretend he never appeared on a Now album. Like when he appears in Pick of the Pops, I'm pretty sure Tony Blackburn still announces him in the chart rundown but doesn't play the song. That seems fair enough.

It's funny how people who get the most hysterical about paedophiles can't even spell the word. The abbreviation is paedo, not pedo.

By the way, did anyone hear "Another Rock'n'roll Christmas" over the festive period?

It is correct in both variations. What is incorrect (but maybe a little amusing) is "peado".

Yes, on my ipod. Great song.

Talking of editing out un-desirables, I was watching a run-down of something on one of the music channels recently. (Might have been million sellers, something along those lines.)

Anyway, on comes Peter Kay's & Tony Christie's SMTWTA. You know how the video goes. Kay walking toward the camera, centre screen, usually flanked by two celebrities at left and right side of screen. Except for one time when Kay was on the far right of screen (as you look at it), with just the one celeb (I think her name's Sally Linday) centre screen. How odd, I thought. I must have seen this video dozens of time and I don't remember this bit. Then you see a flash of a bright red tracksuit clad elbow and all became clear what had happened.

Exactly. These days, on the rare occasion I hear 'Do You Wanna Be In My Gang' by Garry Glitter, my reaction is..."No, not really."

Oddly enough I read an article a couple of days ago that claimed Bowie, Page and Jagger all 'did' the same 15 year-old groupie, in the 70's. But more interestingly, she is working in fashion today and even when prompted heavily by the interviewer insists that she did not feel abused at all, and had a brilliant time. Today, she is not scarred by her experience, but quite proud to allegedly have lost her virginity to Bowie.

While NOT advocating this kind of behavior, I think it's important to understand that in reality, if not the eyes of the law, there's a world of difference between someone who is old beyond their years and fully aware, and someone groomed by a perv. The above mentioned musos are not know as kiddie fiddlers today, because of that distinction, and the fact that they didn't make a habit out of it. Unlike Glitter and Saville, both of whom were truly abusive.
