I was the only one in my group who didn't think it was all that good. It was ok. A bit boring in places and I agree with the reviews that stated it was messy. I had to deal with a guy next to me, who let his phone ring on 4 separate occasions before finally turning it off and then someone in my group decided to be sexist after the movie. He first disagreed that movies like this tend to have more men and then randomly contradicted himself with "films always have more men because men are better actors and female comic book characters are crap".

This is why I see movies alone. The dude next to me talked all the way through the WW trailer and it was the first time I had seen it on the big screen and then talked throughout the first 5 mins of SS. I seriously thought about threatening to strangle him.

Well, I saw it last night and I actually rather enjoyed it. Whether it was because I went in with lower expectations, I don't know. All I do know was that I enjoyed it a heck of a lot more than BvS.

Does it have a strong villain? No, but really even the Marvel films have that issue with a good villain. So I can't know that off the film.

Like everyone, I think both Viola Davis and Margot Robbie nailed their roles respectively. They were tow of the stand out performances is the film.

When I came out, someone complained that there wasn't enough Joker. Now my sketchy knowledge of the Suicide Squad indicates that The Joker isn't really a big part of this. However, I felt there was just the right amount of Joker in this movie. Leto was always going to be up against it and his portrayal would instantly be compared to Heath Ledgers Joker. I didn't find him that bad. While Ledgers Joker came across as unhinged, he had a certain calmness about him. Leto's Joker just seems bat***t (scuse the pun) crazy. It worked for me and I didn't mind it.

I did like Diablo and he was on of my favourites in the film.

Yeah, the story was weak and I agree the editing was sloppy, but this is a film I would happily go and see again. I also would like to see a sequel to this, maybe with less of the studio interference this time.

Messy and boring...Will was Will - Jared was a joke - Magot was amazing, saved it for me - Cara was into deep, surprised how big her role was.

I actually agree with you on Diablo, they really seem to have put all their "emotional weight" into his character and it was pretty refreshing to have that in this movie.

To be fair, even Jared Leto has come out and said that they cut a ludicrous amount of scenes that he recorded, and apparently he didn't even find that out until he got to watch the finished product, so I think even the actor could probably see where that guy who complained about not enough Joker was coming from I personally thought this movie could have just flat out not had Joker appear at all, with Harley giving him brief shout outs, and it would have been the exact same.

I agree about what you say about The Joker. I think having him in Harley Quinn's backstory segment was enough. Maybe the filmmakers knew that to secure a big named actor, they would need to entice them, so have them film quite a bit of footage and cut most of it. I bet my back teeth all parties in the film have a clause in their contract for "X" amount of films.

Best summed up for me as an enjoyable, entertaining, total mess of a film. Overall, 3/5.

Bad
- overlong pre-amble/ introduction to the characters before getting into the story proper
- inconsistencies in Deadshot's character
- weak (if indeed there was any, I forget) explanation of why each SS member was chosen
- less said about anything to do with Enchantress the better. Just awful. I assumed it would be a good character ruined by bad acting. As it turned out, Cara Delvigne was probably the best thing about the whole sorry Enchantress mess.
- didn't seem to know if it wanted to be a Deadpool style piss-take, or a serious X-Men style good v evil battle and ended up being neither, so I hope that rumour isn't true, as it probably made things worse.
- what was the point of
- how, exactly, A small point, I know, but it seems to encapsulate the 'who cares about logic, consistency or dialogue, look how cool the film looks on screen' impression throughout.

Good
- great soundtrack
- Margot Robbie. Didn't have much to do except kick-ass, spout crazy lines and make them sound credible, and look incredibly hot at all times, but she did it very well. Especially the last one.
- Jared Leto's Joker. Totally different to Romero, Nicholson, Ledger (and far scarier/ more psychopathic than the latter) et al and put a unique take on this inconic character. Put me in mind of a blinged up James Cagney. (And I mean that in a good way. )
- Good inclusion of other DC characters. Not that they were in it for long enough to make any impact, but given the nature of the film and what's come before in recent years, it would be ridiculous to pretend they didn't exist.
- Will Smith basically playing Will Smith. I've read a lot of negativity about this, but if that's how he was told to play it, then obviously that's what will come across, and he does this sarcastic, wise-crackery stuff very well.

really good film. i can udnerstand others might not like it as much, but at worst its a decent flick. in no way is it a BAD film.

Sounds like Leto's stuff will be making onto an extended blu-ray like with BvS, and DVD buyers getting the shaft having only the theatrical cut offered to them.

Oh yeah I'm sure Robbie and Leto are both signed up for at least 3 and I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if Will Smith is signed up for 2 or 3 himself either, though his character has pretty much already hit his peak "depth".

Saw this on saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a bit style over content, but that didn't spoil anything for me - it's a comic book movie, and with the cartoon overlays and such like it felt right. Great soundtrack, well used. Harley Quinn was brilliant, best character in the movie (though my missus thought she got her arse out a bit much for her liking). One thing that wasn't explained very well was quite what Harley Quinn's special abilities/powers are (apart from being the aforementioned arse). The criticism of Will Smith is justified to a certain extent in that he was just playing himself. I had reservations about him going into this in that I doubted he could play a bad guy, but it turns out that he wasn't really doing that anyway. The rest of the Squad could have maybe got a bit more exposure and things to do, but I think they did just enough to justify inclusion. the story jumped around a bit, with flashbacks and the like, but that all added to the pace of the movie, it didn';t feel like it dragged at any point. It could have all been told in a more linear fashion, but I don't think that would have been as much fun. the introduction of the characters seemed a little forced, but felt like an 80s action movie move, so I'll let that slide. No problem with Jared Leto's Joker, he seemed to play it like a younger version of Jack Nicholson's portrayal, essentially an unhinged mob boss. The interaction between him and Harley Quinn worked, the destructive, obsessive nature of their relationship coming across well, and put me in mind of Mickey & Malory in Natural Born Killlers. I'd happily watch this again.

No surprise, really. A bit of the old Big Willie schtick could give it some appeal for those new to SS, older viewers etc. Looks like he made a smart move if he did choose this over ID:R.

She's supposed to be extremely intelligent (as well as insane and unpredictable), other than that she doesn't have any.

The hell with the critics, I enjoyed the hell out of this one. It's no cinematic masterpiece and neither is it pretending to be. It's mindless, chaotic fun and that isn't a bad thing.

I do agree that there was some editing/pacing problems and Enchantress could've been a far better villain than she was but still a bit of an improvement on the likes of Lex and Doomsday from Batman V. Superman.

Flagg was bland and boring and Slipknot wasn't around long enough to care about him. Found both Croc and Boomerang amusing though and I liked Katana in general.

The highlights though were Harley, Deadshot, Waller and El Diablo. The best written and fleshed out characters with Robbie, Smith, Davis and Hernadez giving the best performances.

I know Tumblr feminists won't like Harley's depiction here but truthfully it wasn't anywhere near as problematic as they might think it is. I do think though they underplayed the darker sides of her relationship with the Joker though.

As for Leto, he was okay in the role. Not revolutionary but not terrible either. I think we need to see him in another movie in a bigger role before we can truly form an impression on his Joker to be honest.

Loved all the little easter eggs and future set ups in this movie as well.

I know that the WB/DC have.. not so much replaced but have brought on board a new producer to oversee the whole DC universe. I get the feeling snyders days may be number, which is no bad thing in my opinion. (Though I though it was Nolan that was the big cheese producer..

I thought it was okay.
Enjoyable enough but also instantly forgettable.

The biggest fail is that SS is not about villains at all.
From the very beginning every member is sold as totally nice guys (girl) who are just a bit misguided and only need a hug really.
We didn't see anyone do something really bad or overly condemnable (deathshot for example kills one (!) guy who is a mobster informant, so hardly an innocent and from then on it's my daughters this and my daughter that). Harley just wants love and don't get me started on Diabolo...
It takes away so much fun and the constant "we're the bad guys" comments ring rather hollow.
In the end they even refer to themselves as family and friends and the film even goes so far to give the loved up couple a happy ending.

Leto played an interesting and charismatic character but it sure wasn't the Joker. The Joker imo is an anarchistic character who wouldn't give two nr 2s about status and bling, which this version is obviously getting off of.
He was also way too much into Harley, whereas I always viewed their relationship as predominantly one side.

As I said I thought the film was okay but I don't think that is anything to shout about for DC fanboys, 3 films in and this is the best WB can do?
