True.
Iron Man (2008) - $585,174,222
The Incredible Hulk (2008) - $263,427,551
Iron Man 2 (2010) - $623,933,331
And the rest of Phase One:
Thor (2011) - $449,326,618
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - $370,569,774
Marvel's The Avengers (2012) - $1,519,557,910
DCEU:
Man of Steel (2013) - $668,045,518
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) - $872,662,631
Suicide Squad (2016) - $640,117,209
But...
- Given the characters on each side, the MCU films made
more (save for The Incredible Hulk's pathetic showing) than would have been expected for what were - until the MCU - a
bunch of barely known C-listers; whereas the DCEU films made
less than what would have been expected for the
two biggest and most well known comic-book characters ever.
- This year's first MCU film - Captain America: Civil War - grossed $1,152,469,309, while last year's Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed $1,405,413,868, and 2014's "wacky unknown team of misfits film" - Guardians of the Galaxy - managed $773,312,399 without needing to misleadingly focus its marketing on a little-used but well-known character such as the Joker.
- TheAngryGerman was, IMO, clearly not actually talking about box office gross
anyway when talking about a "strong start", so you're arguing the wrong point with TheAngryGerman by focussing on money.
Oh, and as a comparison to current DC:
Batman Begins (2005) - $374,218,673
The Dark Knight (2008) - $1,004,558,444
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - $1,084,939,099
(Batman Begins suffered from coming after the previous two awful Batman films.)
(None of Nolan's Bat-films had a 3D release to inflate ticket revenue, unlike the MCU and DCEU films.)
