WB surely have come to the conclusion that the people they have making these films have no idea why DC comics are cool in the first place. I can't believe they manged to mess this up.
The deadshot from Arrow TV show didn't deserve this. |

The trailers show far too much Will Smith. I don't want to see a Will Smith movie. His one-note, screen-hogging, egotistical performances aren't entertaining anymore. And Jai Courtney must have a miracle worker for an agent. How many of his films need to be savaged before he stops getting hired? |

As far as I'm aware the reshoots on Suicide Squad had nothing to do with Batman Vs Superman which was confirmed many times by the director David Ayer as he tweeted that it was to add more action to the film as WB liked it so much!
Wow the Telegraph review that a previous poster posted a link called it crushingly purerile comic book pornography! |

I was aware what the reshoots were partly to do with a certain character making a cameo in the film! Wow the Telegraph that a previous poster posted a link called it crushingly purerile comic book pornography! |

I recall that not working out so well last time:

Suicide Squad went through reshoots after the backlash of BvS but by then it was too late to start restructuring the universe. Wonder Woman still has a lot of time to get things right though.
It does but I worry about the lead. She isn't a great actress. Wouldn't he surprised if WB kill the cyborg movie now. Not reading good things about the joker in Suicide Squad either. One review I read says he tries to play scarface dressed like joker. WTF. |

I checked his tweets and changed my original post as he stated that it was to do with added action like he also confirmed the original rumour of the running time of 1 hour 40 minutes was also false!
Maybe the adding the more action to the film has caused problems with it rather than improve it? |

Maybe the adding the more action to the film has caused problems with it rather than improve it? Could be. There seems to be issues with editors as well @danielrpk tweeted on May 21st "Suicide squad finally gives you the batman you all want to see" He also tweeted how Batman got as much movie time as Spider-Man got in civil war and tweeted that the film was amazing. On July 29th he tweeted that they cut jokers scenes, some plot changes which made pacing kinda a mess and some of the changes were made to put Will Smith's Deadshot to the front. Said they changed the order of some scenes and added more flashbacks I mean how do you go from the film was amazing and then due to some editing make the film worse. |

When you compare Suicide Squad to what James Gunn and Marvel Studios achieved in Guardians of the Galaxy – low-profile property, oddball characters, make-it-fun brief – the film makes you cringe so hard your teeth come loose. But it’s a slog even on its own crushingly puerile terms.
- Daily Telegraph One of the worst reviews of a film I've ever read. |

It's very polarizing. Empire gave it a 4/5. It currently holds a 9.3 on IMDB.

Empire's 4 reads like a 3 tho. They may as well have just given it 5, so we could still mock them 15 years later a la Attack of the Clones.

Fact of the matter is the film is a mess. This is confirmed by the majority of reviews. The general consensus is there's no story, lack of a cohesive plot, editing is really poor, the villain is shit and the Joker isn't in the film for more than 10-15 mins. The positives: the cast is great, particularly Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and surprisingly Jai Courtney! Am i going to see it? F*cking hell YES! Quote:

Just a suggestion, but why doesn't everyone watch it and cast your own votes? That's what I'm going to do.

Yeah I will still go and see it despite the reviews as I am one of the people who actually liked Batman Vs Superman!
Then I always find it better to judge a film myself rather than rely on reviews as the reviews for SPECTRE were great but I thought that was a terrible Bond film that bordered on a farce! It is the comparison to the Marvel films that I don't like as people don't seem to like the darker tone of the DC films compared to lighter Marvel films as they have to constantly compare the two comic book companies! |

So Leto went 'full joker' on set and his life during this movie just for 10min of screen time.

In fairness not all Marvel movies are great and as the stories get more complex they also get messy. I actually hated Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2 was bad, Thor 2 a bit rough. Maybe the Marvel movies at their best are enough to offset the dodgy ones? Plus there are many more Marvel movies, and so they have had more opportunities to get it right. It feels like DC are playing catch up post Nolan and it just isn't going well. I have hope for Wonder Woman, as the first female led superhero movie (since Catwoman with Halle Berry?) I am praying it's good. |

When you put it like that that's quite funny, but rumours say some of his scenes were left on the edit room floor. Maybe they'll reappear for the dvd release. But even i'm surprised by how little he's in the dilm for. Sounds more like a cameo than amything else.

Wow - getting brutal reviews. If they have ballsed this film up, I'm going to be so pissed!
It would make three duds on the trot. How many can a studio afford before they admit it's not working? |

If this film does truly suffer (for whatever reason) then it's quite literally up to Wonder Woman to save the DCEU. If that fails too, then the Justice League film has no hope at the box office.
The thing is, fans (of comic book films) are likely going to see these regardless of their ratings. Batman vs Superman wasn't brilliant, and it was a bit of a mess in places where consistency lacked. That and the poor casting of Lex, but it was an entertaining film. I sometimes think, considering how many comic books are out there, and how many variations of the characters there are, people always have specific expectations, and everything has to be perfect to fit some criteria. Some comic book fans can't just enjoy a film for what it is, whilst at the same time people who just want to watch a film and aren't so hot on the comic book scene don't know enough about the characters to relate. It's a difficult job for any director. I think James Gunn & Guardians (oh, and Deadpool) were the surprising films; both of them excelled and are (in my mind, along with Watchmen - Snyder got that right) are the three best comic book adaption films to date. |
