I'm only. 22 Why are young people made younger by society these days

Stephanie and I am only 22 she is fully fledged adult. John was spot on there she isn't 16.

The three younger one are 27,25,23,22 none of them teens but even on here they seem to be made younger than they are.

In a regular big brother they would all be over 21 and seen as standard age housemates .

I think it's a dependably to live at home longer again be out on the piss all the time and have no responsibilities

In fairness, I'm a few years older than you - and trust me - when you're 22, you're stupid. The same way you're probably looking back at your teen years, when you thought you were smart, and now realise you weren't. And I imagine when I'm in my 30s I'll be saying the same thing about the age I am now.

When I was 22, I'd probably think the same way about Stephanie's behaviour, but I would've been completely blind to my own.

You probably won't agree, but trust me. Even looking back at posts I've made on Digital Spy a few years back I cringe a little...

Partly, because people live at home longer. Partly because people are living longer so every age seems to be pushed down a bit. Also societies changed both men and women have become more career driven and it's seen more desirable now to focus on that and just living life before settling down to get married and have babies.

I personally don't think it's a bad thing. My grandmother was married at 19 pregnant at 20 which was the norm back then and what was just expected of her. Whilst it may have worked for women back then I for one am glad I have time to figure myself out and have some fun before being thrown into 'proper' adult life.

Although, comments like 'I'm only 22' also have a lot of context. She said it to Gemma who's 12 years older than her and she is the youngest in that house so it makes more sense she'd say something like that in that situation. Then the matter of what she was talking about. If she'd said "I've gone through my parents divorce and my grandfathers death at only 22" then that wouldn't make much sense because they're not unusual occurrences to happen before 22. If she said "I was in two abusive relationships, attempted suicide, beaten a drug addiction and been sacked because of my alcohol dependency and I'm only 22." then that's a more understandable because you'd think for someone to go through all that they'd be a lot older.
