Hi There

Perhaps someone could help me?
I have a Panasonic DVD-S47 DVD Player. I put a DVD in the other day, the menu came up but I could do anything. Turned it off/on, now it does not show any disc at all. When I press OPEN it says open on the front of the machine, but the disc wont come out. Could some kind person tell me the forced eject sequence for this machine?

Many Thanks
Dave.

Dave,

I don't know the specific sequence for this machine, but have had this problem on one or two other machines.
I found that the way to do it was to repeatedly press the "eject" button on the actual player (as opposed to the remote). You don't have to press it that fast, but pressing it continually for a while seemed to make it "catch" eventually, and the tray came out (although I had to be careful not to press the eject button again so as to avoid the machine re-swallowing the disc.)
You may have tried it, but if not it's worth a go. At first I kept trying the remote, and it was only once I tried the actual eject on the machine that I had any luck.
By the way, what disc did it jam on? I had problems with R1 Disney discs, as they seem to be noticeably thicker than most other discs.

Good luck,

Dazza.

Thanks for your reply, but the DVD+R is still in there. I tried the factory reset, no change. It is definitely not coming out via any simple method. There is nothing relating to this problem in the manual.

However, underneath there is a round hole with OPEN and an arrow indicating a direction. When I shined the torch down it, I could see a small plastic looking cog with teeth. It looks as if a special tool (screwdriver with interlocking cog) is required. Any ideas where I can buy one? I think a normal screwdriver would round the teeth off, as this cog is going to have to go a bit to open the draw.

Thanks again for any help.

I can see this is a problem and i dont have the answer but, for what it's worth, I had the same prob with a Philips that eventually gave up the ghost.

Ijust could not get the disk out so I took the lid off the box and was able to slip th disk out with some persuasion.

This may cause a little damage.......also you may be able to turn the cogged wheel to slide the tray out.

I had this problem with a Panasonic DMR E55 recorder after putting in a data dvd by mistake. The machine refused to eject. I'd only had the machine 10minutes. I sent Panasonic an email. However, I decided to take the machine apart to get the disc out, not for the faint hearted. I did eventually extract the disc. I then checked my email and to my suprise Panasonic told me the easy way.
With the machine initially switched off press and hold the stop button and the channel button at the same time for about 5 seconds and hey presto out pops the disc.
I later found the same instructions in the user manual. So it pays you to read the manual, I suppose.
Of course your machine might have a different solution.
Good Luck
