Gemma admitted she nominated John as she heard the crowd.
If this isn't evidence of how outside information including boos and cheers can influence the HM's, I don't know what is.
I think BB should go back to basics, even speaking to the house in a closed set like BB1. There would be no second guessing by the HM's and will change the whole dynamics of the show. |

I agree. To me, the whole point of Big Brother is that they're alienated from the outside world for a few weeks without a clue how the public are perceiving them or reacting. Letting them hear the crowd booing and cheering individuals is just ridiculous as it clearly influences their nominations.

I would suspect if they went back to basics, a lot more people would start watching again as it would be like the original, plus there would be no room for manipulation by the producers. |

The ratings would tank. TV audiences wouldn't watch that in 2016.

Or remember one of the sets of Big Brother on Channel 4 where the living room was like in the middle on it's own from the house I don't think they could hear cheers/boos. They had to walk out through the garden when being evicted. I can't remember which series it was.

The one with Makosi....and I think bb10 was like that too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpnjkgTeTWw I think they played crowd cheer music into the house as well to stop the housemates hearing anything. |

Yes, I said this on my other thread.
Darren got all emotional about the fact Gemma liked him so much, yet it was only because of the crowd noise against John (which I said on the night anyway). |

It works so much better . I do not understand why channel 5 want to include the crowd in every thing and put so much emphasis on them when a lot of the time they are out of touch with the voting public anyway !! I give up trying to work out the production on this show long ago. |

They all seem to forget - or never actually realise in the first place? - that the opinions of the crowd are those of hardcore fans who make the effort to come to evictions.
There's a big difference between that and the views of the casual viewer at home who might (or might not) vote and who will never make the pilgrimage to Elstree. The one mindset is in no way necessarily indicative of the other. Yes, it's nice being cheered and not so nice being booed but it's no measure at all of the final vote count. |

The crowd seems to be made up of chavs who haven't a clue. It used to be a mixed crowd but not any more.

It wasn't even just bb1. Davina spoke to the house from.the studio in the last few years of BB every week apart from the finale .

I don't think Gemma likes John though tbh as he's the only one who can see the game she is playing.

And it's not even as if the public have much influence on the housemates' actions.
The Borehamwood eviction crowd have more direct influence over the actions of the housemates than you do. |

Majority if not all who nominated John did so because of the crowd's reaction.
We all know Gemma did, with what Steph said during her nomination it was obvious this was her main reason & of course Darren. I really hope the crowd are a bit more favourable towards John tonight, but I ain't gonna hold my breath. |

This is my first time watching CBB (I'm a John fan so I started watching for him) and I was wondering: is the crowd a real crowd, or are they told who to boo and who to cheer for? I was thinking that maybe BB got them to cheer Gemma to try and manipulate the house dynamics, and then two or three nominations later she gets roundly booed and the dynamics shift as the rest of the housemates think she's hated and turn on her.
Either that or there's people who genuinely like her. |

Sadly though like you I won't hold my. breath, they always same to have the same kind of crowd and it's often predictable how they react. |

The first year I remember chanting that the House could hear was "Get Grace Out" which I think was 2006.
It worked so much better when they couldn't hear anything. They need that level of isolation to keep the nomination process 'honest' I wonder where they get the crowds from somehow. The cynical side makes me wonder if they decide on a fan base they like, who they want to be cheered/booed and don't tell the crowds to do it, but invite certain fanbaases along via Twitter. Or it is just that the kind of people that like Gemma just shout louder than others?! |

Wasn't that also the first occurence of real outside influence exerted inside the house with Golden Bollocks Susie. They had a few later arrivals before that but not to the extent she pandered to the baying mob. |

I sometimes wonder if the crowd is like the audience on BOTS where it is mainly made up the same people rotated round week after week.
