Dolores Sharpe was in Emmerdale from 1994-1995. I think she was at school with the McAllisters and later Tina Dingle. She became best friends with Tina.

Last thing I remember about her is that she was working in Kathy's Tea Rooms and one day she just wasn't there anymore.

She was always a supporting character to someone. However she was a significant enough character to have at least 2 different designs of cast cards.

Lizzie from Emmerdale. I know the actress was ill and did sadly die last year, but she had been off screen for about 2/3 years prior to her death. I think it was wrong they never explained what happened to her and now the actress has died, there doesn't seem to be any plans to honour the character. She may not of been a major character but she communicated with many characters, especially Laurel, who she built a sweet friendship with. The last we saw Lizzie was when Gabby lied about Lizzie hitting her.

Good shout, another is Lyn Hutchinson, she was a friend of Kelly Windsors and dated Marlon. She was played by Tracey's real life sister.

In Corrie, Ted Page, Maud Grimes, Phyllis Pearce.

In Home & Away, Rob Storey

In EastEnders, Lily Mattock who lived with Dot around 97/98

Ricky in hollyoaks. There was an article on the mainsite about him this week. His exit was filmed but not screened. He really did get screwed by the makers. He was originally a carer for his dad who disappeared and then Ricky was in it for years in the background

The girl that ran the cab firm with the Ferrarras and was dating one of them? I think her name was Sacha? She was played by an ex Family Affairs actress.

Anyway, quite a big thing was made of her staying rather than leaving with them but I don't think we ever saw her again.

In dynasty, Leslie Carrington just disappeared between season 8 and 9. Last seen she'd been beaten up and Steven called her an ambulance but she was never spoken of again, let alone seen.

Granny McQueen from Hollyoaks seems to have vanished without trace. I wish Mummy Moira would do the same....

Not heard fat Brenda being mentioned recently in Streetcars in Corrie

Ena Sharples in Corrie? Her last appearance saw her disappear off to Lytham St Anne's but I don't think it was intended to be for good, she just never appeared again due to Violet Carson's ill health so not a final "exit storyline" as such...

Georgia Sharma in Emmerdale.

Coronation Street

Tom Kerrigan (Liam Connor's cousin) - Had a go at Maria and Tony Gordon, followed by a fling with Kelly Crabtree before suddenly disappearing without a mention since.

Jed Stone (sort of) - After being sent to stay in Wigan after nearly killed by Tony, he was threatened by Tony's henchman Jimmy Dockerson after Carla saw the bruises on his neck from Tony strangling him. The last we heard Jed was back in hospital after suffering another heart attack, but we never found out what happened afterwards.

Doreen Fenwick (Rita's friend) - From what I know she just vanished from the show, although Rita does keep in touch.

Ida Clough - after appearing on and off in the show for 20 years, she never got an on-screen exit. I don't know if it was even explained what happened to her at any point after her final appearance (apart from a possible hint in 2008 that she may now be dead).

Jules Tavernier in EastEnders. A lot of people seem to think he and Patrick Trueman are the same character.

Rose - Dot's sister
The last we saw of Rose, she left in a cab and she said she was going to visit Dot who needed help with little Dotty. At this point, June Brown had taken six months off and they wrote Dot out by visiting Little Dotty. And that was it. She hasn't been seen or mentioned ever since. Plus when she left, she only left with a bag or two.

She's the character I thought of as well. Yes Sasha Perkins, an escort friend of Adi Ferreira. She was played by Jemma Walker who had been in Family Affairs for several years as Pete Callan's poor wife Siobhan.

In the early episodes of Prisoner, Christine Amor appeared for a string of episodes as social worker Jean Vernon, who also moved in to share with Meg. She stopped appearing but never had a farewell scene. Much later there was I believe a brief throwaway line that mentioned she got another job/moved out.

Sister Scott (Cornelia Frances) was a main character for the first few years of The Young Doctors. Sister Scott was slowly phased out with diminishing appearances when Frances left the series to move to Melbourne for a year when her husband was transferred with his work. In the script Scott was said to be working elsewhere in the hospital, on leave, etc, but never seen. When Frances returned to Sydney the makers of the show decided not to write her back in so Scott was never seen again, with no farewell.

Kim McFarlane in EastEnders. She hung around with Sonia, Martin and Asif. Her brother Mick left when his band signed to a record deal. She just disappeared with little to no explanation soon after.

Ash (played by Patrick Robinson) in Casualty. He disappeared, then a few eps later, there was a brief conversation between two characters, where one asked where he was and the other said something like "He resigned so he could look after his daughter", and that was it! Particularly odd, given that he was a longstanding character who'd been in the show for years.

Yes that was most bizarre. Dot left in May 2012 to go and stay with her granddaughter Dotty and her mother, Rose then left a couple of months later in July to join them and Andrew (Rose's son) followed Rose a month later in August. Dot next appeared onscreen in January 2013 when Abi visited her and she was shown to be living alone. No explanation was given as to where Andrew, Rose, Dotty and Dotty's mum had all disappeared to.

I remember finding Ida's sudden reappearance in the mid-'90s after last being seen in the late '80s just as bemusing - I distinctly recall her coming in the Kabin and Mavis saying "Hello, Mrs Clough" as if she'd never been away; clearly she'd just been an "off-screen character" for seven-odd years!

I remember Ricky - I really liked him. That's so bad that they never screened his exit.

When Mandy disappeared the last time, she just went off screen as well - left Tony a letter and buggered off. I guess the actress decided she'd had enough, but a shame for such a classic character to end that way.

Obviously Sinead didn't get a proper exit either, for understandable reasons.

Actually Georgia did have a sort of an exit. After splitting up with Rodney, she decided to move out the village and get a house elsewhere. It was then mentioned she was on a cruise. Then it was mentioned Jai was going to stay with her for a bit. But after getting in touch with Georgia, the sharma's discovered Jai never made it. Which then led to him returning and revealing he went to Rehab.

Gail Platt's dad was my first thoughy, but he has already been mentioned.

Hollyoaks has had a few where it has been mentioned in passing. Kristian who apparently transferred to another uni and a friend of Danni Carbone who went to be a holiday rep. Michaela McQueen was written out as having decided to go and seek out her ex Zak. Sinead ran away cos of Ste and Harry. Of course their exits weren't played out onscreen due to the actresses being sacked, so just referred to by other characters.

If we include Bad Girls, Di Barker never mentioned again after being wrongly accused of murdering Fenner.

What about Mad Maya Sharma?

Never seen again after her epic car crash. Did we ever even find out if she lived or died?

I wish they had brought her back to kill Sunita.

Ettie Parslow in Prisoner didn't have an exit storyline.

Fergus Jamieson in Take the High Road. The actor who played him died so he just stopped appearing - no mention in the script.
