Samsung S6

Hi All, my first post on here, so treat me nicely!

I have upgraded my EE phone to a Samsung S6 about a month ago. However, last night when I was looking for a setting on my BT Home Hub 5 I happened to notice that my phone is connected on 2.4GHz, which is crowded with most of the other stuff in the house. I also understand from all the 'blurb' on this phone is both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Now, whilst I'm not having any particular problems with my phone I did think that perhaps it would be better connected to the less crowded 5GHz but can find absolutely no setting on the phone to make it do so, so now I am curious as to why the setting doesn't seem to exist anywhere.

Anybody have any ideas on this?

Generally it's best to have separate SSIDs on the router for 2.4 and 5GHz; band steering on domestic WiFi gear never seems to work well.
I've never come across a phone that allows the choice of bands

Nexus 6 (and maybe all stock marshmallow phones with both bands?) do

Settings > WiFi > (overflow menu) Advanced > WiFi frequency band

Simple really! Thanks. Just for info Gavin is right. My daughters Nexus 5 also has this option under settings.

Beat me to it, I used this on my S6 before I sold it. It's also on my OnePlus Two, in the same location.

With my wireless network I call my old 2.4ghz network the old name that I always use to call it before I had the 5ghz router and the new one starting in the same name, but then adding 5G at the end of it.

I then just search and my phone finds both.

Great minds! That's exactly what I've done.
