woah, no news for so long, and then the sudden announcement of when series 10 will be and confirmation of Moffat leaving. Not to mention about 6 or 7 threads on the main page discussing it.
Can't say I'm not pleased about Moffat going. It was certainly time. To this day he can still deliver a good episode, but he has never done a single decent series arc for me, so that's something I can look forward to, there being the chance of a good one actually happening again in series 11.
Think it's a shame that series 10 couldn't be under the new showrunner, as that would have worked out well like it did with the RTD to Moffat takeover, plus having had no series this year, the hype would have really given a new era a boost. Ah well.
Looking at Chris Chibnall's previous episodes, there's nothing completely spectacular on there, but neither is there anything absolutely dire. It doesn't matter to me either way though. Moffat had a perfect run of brilliant episodes before he was showrunner and was pretty terrible with the main story arcs (Rivers story aside) as showrunner, so I don't think you can pre-judge just on what they have already written for the show.
I see some are commenting that they think Chris Chibnall will return the show to a more 'populist RTD style'. All I can say to that is that I hope it's true. Would be nice for the show to be mainstream popular again like it was with RTD at the helm.
