Would love to see Paul mcgann get another go. Probably be a female this time though.
No and it won't.

I haven't really enjoyed the stories Moffet has put out to Peter Capaldi's Doctor, so hopefully with a new show runner, we can finally see what Capaldi can do. Don't get me wrong I think he's a great actor but he's had crap scripts most of the time.

Aiden Turner was great in Being Human. I think he'd be up for the role if it came available.

lol @ the dinosaurs on this thread recoiling in horror at the thought of an attractive man playing the Doctor for once.

And I don't think Chibnall would jeopardise the show on his first outing with a female Doctor. Capaldi will go, yes, but he'll not be replaced by a woman.

I think Turner is tied into Poldark for a good few years yet. I doubt he'd be available.

No, it's the sex appeal aspect that bothers me more, though I do think older men generally play the role better because they can capture that wisdom and feeling of paternity I often associate the character. I have enjoyed Peter Davison, Paul McGann and Matt Smith in the role however despite some of their flaws.
Personally I feel Eccleston had gravitas, as did Tennant when required (he could turn from lighthearted to vengeful in a second) and even Smith (some great angry speeches) even though none were particularly old (especially Smith).

I'd agree that Capaldi's look does give him added gravitas and doctor authority, but I don't think an older actor is essential for that, just the right actor who can pull it off.

Don't mind if Capaldi stays, but when he decides the time is right to leave I do like the suggestion of rhys ifans!

I could imagine the viewing figures instantly going up by about 2m if Aiden Turner was the new Doctor!

If Chibnall's smart, I think he'll re-embrace the idea of the Doctor being a romantic hero. I don't think Matt's 'youthful eccentric' or Capaldi's 'grumpy old man' have hit the spot nearly as well as Tennant's 'dashing adventurer'.

I would personally like someone like Aiden, although my personal favourite would be Sean James Murphy from Danger 5. The Doctor would finally have ginger hair!

He's another one who must get really annoyed when people spell his name wrong all the time!

Apparently Aidan Turner has already been cast as the new Doctor and this is his costume.

Personally, I think its a winner.

I really want Daniel Rigby, he'd be brilliant.
I'd half expect to keep doing Eric Morecambe impressions

Jeremy Irons would be good, he could capture that old-fashioned British charm but with that madcap scientist edge.

Just no Rupert Grints, Aidan Turners or Richard Maddens please. One of the great things about the character of the Doctor is he's always shown that you don't have to be this typical gorgeous socialite athlete to be a hero.

I find Peter Capaldi fascinating to watch, so I wouldn't want him to go. But if he did leave, my choice of a replacement would be Charles Dance.

It's more than likely that Capaldi will be leaving with Moffat and Chibnall will be casting a new Doctor for the start of Series 11 (or possibly the 2017 Christmas Special).

It could of course be some (relatively) unknown actor like Matt Smith was but it could also be someone Chibnall has worked with before and specifically wants for the role (see RTD and Eccleston/Tennant).

The first name that springs to mind is Olivia Coleman but is there anyone else?

Thinking about it, I wouldn't be surprised if they appoint an actor from an ethnic minority.

Better since Matt Smith left,
Absolutely agree.

Want to see how Peter Capaldi develops in the role of the Doctor. I think he is a great Doctor already and am sure he can bring so much more to the show. Not every Doctor has to be young. William Hartnell wasn't and the show became an instant success story.

I'm going to just keep saying 'Peter Capaldi'. There's no sense in changing for the sake of it. His performances are getting better and better. Unless he chooses to leave they should keep him.

Christmas 2017 will probably be a good time to change.
Do a two part story with the second episode airing on News Years day.

Could do something epic. Bring back some old baddies, companions. Maybe even a multi doctor story. Sure DT and MS wouldn't mind doing a cameo.
