I'd love to see a return to the original format.

Lets have a Big Brother Classic series, where BB doesn't try to be funny, there aren't regular twists, rule breaks are dealt with fairly and consistently, Sunglasses are banned, outside information is zero, nominations are in the diary room and the same every week, Only two (max 3) housemates are nominated, Votes are to evict, ....and so on.

It would be interesting to see the ratings. Can we include that the usual style of wannabes are banned too.

I've got to that point too, they have been getting more and more blatant with the fixes each year, but they seem not to care now that they are mugging off the public so blatantly. I really think they should be made to give up the Big Brother name, it's a farce using that now. I switched off last night as soon as they did that fix, and for the first time ever didn't bother watching the live feed (or BOTS), what's the point ?

That would be ok IF it was entertaining ! It's not, and any producer that doesn't get it that, if you insult your audience enough they will finally say enough is enough, must be extremely stupid.

I only keep watching to ridicule and take the pis out of the whole show, and it's format, presenters, spin-offs, and the HMs and every thing that happens because it is one big joke, well isn't it .

she will no doubt be told to do something nasty or lose her immunity... which will enable the towie nobody with "big makeups" do some more ad hoc soundbite lines for the camera... because that is her skill... selling an image to idiots

Let's not forget that when the show went to 5 they announced through the host that it was no longer reality TV but a soap.

Gemma "earning" immunity isn't so much about her being safe, more about giving her confidence to carry on bitching.

The majority of the viewership, and particularly so the voters, don't watch BB in the way we watched the early series.

It's more about self validation. That's a major point a lot of people miss when they think about who might get voted out and indeed, when they are surprised at the eventual winners.

I have not watched X Factor since 2010 and that was owing to media manipulation. Can no longer be bothered with CBB or BOTS, as they have just turned into the Gemma Collins Show and so boring. Others need some airtime.

Emma actually said she liked Gemma and that she did not want Gemma to come away from the series with people outside disliking her (Gemma). I kid you not ... I wasn't defending the decision or saying it was actually entertaining but any hope BB retains much in the way of that which we grew up loving is doomed.. When Desmond owned C5 he made it quite clear where he was taking the channel (ITVBe probably pipped him) and there is no evidence Viacom are steering a different course. I can see Desmond's logic because it integrated with his "celebrity" magazines.

The ITV 'jungle' rubbish has been doing the same for years too but sadly the easily led still think that it's won by whoever it may be 'on merit' at least The X Factor shows that sooner or later the manipulation causes the programme to self destruct.

It depends what you mean by "kill". Both Big Brother and X Factor severely maimed their golden geese by pushing it too far. The shows may still be on, but they lost millions of viewers and millions in voting revenue, and X Factor looks like a goner. Also, I don't think Big Brother realises how much hardcore viewers kept them afloat through the bad times, and we've seen what happens to businesses chasing the subprimers.

The vast majority of normal people with no aspiration of celebrity would never go on a show like BB in the first place. Even BB1 HMs wanted some sort of fame. Mel, Anna and Craig went on to present shows, I think Caroline went into music and most of the others did interviews with Heat magazine so presumably had agents to set it up for them

Absolutely agree - I watched 10 minutes the other night and won't watch again - it isn't CBB it is the Gemma Collins show - self-absorbed, selfish girl - I still don't understand how appearing on TOWIE can qualify as being a celebrity.

BB and CBB has lost me - and if she wins the show, it has well and truly been 'fixed'.

I was rewatching an old episode of BB6 last night....the one where Makosi and Anthony got it on in the pool and it struck me how "natural" it was then. It really seemed like the housemates were left to their own devices and things developed naturally.
It was also interesting to see how less prudish the housemates were then too.

Gemma will have been told how unpopular she is with the public .. she will up her game now and try to win back some dignity .. I personally will find that more irritating
