One show to go. 23 wins out of 29. 6 runners up. Series champions, never in the dance off. While there will always be some that don't get it. It's clear that Jay and Aliona are very special

Last show tonight was won by - surprise surprise - Jay and Aliona!!!

I'm a bit sad that nobody else apart from Anita ever won - Helen and Jake especially - but what Jay has achieved in the series and on tour is amazing really. So pleased he has won the tour!

24 wins out of 30 for Jay and Aliona. That is 80%.
Louis and Ola had a higher % of wins with 94%, but the following one is Matt and Aliona with 74%.

You could say this is a good leaving present for aliona, the fans have wanted her to leave on good terms and that's what has happened.

I am happy for all the Jay wins, but I wish the others had a chance too. Specially Helen and Georgia.

I know I am a Jay and Aliona fan so my views may appear biased, but I think the rumba was spellbinding even in an arena setting. I didn't expect to work at all, but it was even better than on tv, and I was watching from very high up.

Helens VW and Jays jive were the other two stand out dances in terms of quality.
I thought both of Frankie's were good but not great, Jakes were fun but too similar, Georgias were as Frankie's and Anita's confirmed what I always thought, that Gleb's is brilliant at creating showstopping routines that don't require much finesse or quality of dancing from the celeb. It was all about him after.

On the other hand, I was disappointed by the continued unrelentess innuendo humour. A bit of it is funny, but by the end, it's just crass. However, that did not make me enjoy it any less.

As a long standing Aliona fan, it was amazing being there for her last strictly related show. Even from the skies, she stands out.

BiB1 As an Anita fan I feel compelled to point out that Helen/Jay should stand out in terms of dance quality--they are both trained dancers. Aljaz and Aliona had a lot to work with. I don't mind ringers on the show, and Aliona especially did a grand job; I just think sometimes people forget that trained dancers will be better at dancing than novices.

BiB2 Exactly--Gleb made dances that suited Anita's skill level but were still entertaining. Same as Janette and Jake.

BiB3 Agreed about Aliona. This was my first series watching Strictly and during the launch show she immediately struck me as one of the best and most interesting female pros. I'll miss her.

I understand your first point, but some other beginners have improved from zero to pretty amazing. Harry Judd, for intense, he was a fabulous technical ballroom dancer by the end of it, and I believe Some others as well. My bone with Anita is that she was scored as if she was as good as Jay, when Helen and Georgia (technically superior) or Jake (equally good entertainment and performance wise and also as beginner) weren't scored as high. I have no problem if they were fair all round.

I am actually a fan of Gleb. We have no idea how technical he can or can't get. He did wonders with Anita. Got the best out of her, while I believe a lot of her fans believe the opposite that he hindrance her. I really want to see him with a ringer, a technical dancer next year to see if there is more to him, like with Aliona. Every time she had a contender she modified the style and storyline to suit her partner. If Gleb has that ability, he will have a successful stay in Strictly.

Regarding Aliona, I am so glad many people have realised her absolutely amazing qualities as a pro.

To be fair, by this point all the celebs who reached the final stages of the competition are trained dancers. They've had virtually 4 months worth of intensive, one-on-one training that would take anyone doing it the 'normal' way a) years and b) cost a fortune! They've probably crammed 4 years worth of training into 4 months. Personally, I wouldn't class anyone who reached the quarter/semi final stages as technically a 'beginner' anymore.

I didn't go to Louis tour and had forgotten he danced with Ola. I'm so glad Jay danced with his TV series partner Aliona. Not sure I would have enjoyed Louis winning with Ola. Flavia will always be my idea of Louis dance partner.

Which dances did Louis do on the tour? For me -and without checking on YT or Ultimate Strictly to jog my memory- his stand-out dances were his salsa, tango and showdance.

Mark Wright and Jake Wood just need to top up with a Christmas special and then they’ll be ready to tackle all those Gene Kelly musical roles on Broadway!

I believe he did his salsa (dirty dancing inspired) and his Fusion dance (rumba/tango to with or without you).

Finalists who had years of training before Strictly must be ready to take over the pros' positions!

I don't understand your point. People like Helen, Jay, Kellie and others from previous years, would only have had the four months or so training in ballroom and latin. I doubt they could choreograph a routine or teach a novice the nuances of the technique!

I think people are forgetting that there are a LOT of levels between beginner and professional! Not beginner doesn't mean advanced/professional level!

Not if their "years of training" were in dance styles other than ballroom or latin.
