If I remember correctly, after the final, there was a big uproar in the social media about K&K being robbed of the win. I would believe the social media view to be more closer to the voting public than a DS forum members voting on a thread.

I would certainly agree with that.

Every poll had Jay and Aliona way in front before the final. On the last ITT when Zoe asked who they wanted to win the majority said Jay and Aliona. They were never in the dance off (Kevin and Kellie were in it twice) so I don't know how anyone can say Kellie was robbed. Yes she danced well in the final, if you like that sort of dancing but most people preferred Jay's. Think by now this story should be finished.

Trouble is, some people struggle to accept that their own favourite wasn't necessarily everyone else's. I loved Helen and was gutted when she left and that she didn't come first or second on the tour but I just have to face up to the fact that she wasn't as popular as Jay or Anita. That's life!

I agree with you and wish everyone would just move on. Jay won the show, won the tour so I think that shows how popular he is.

Some people think that whoever dances best deserves to win and some of those people think Kellie danced the best so she deserved to win. It's hardly an untenable position.

(I wouldn't agree with them on either point but *shrug*)

A lot of people dip in and out of SCD throughout the course of the series and might tune in for the final without having paid too much attention to what went before that. Kellie had a pretty strong couple of weeks in the lead up to and on the night of the final and so people might have definitely believed she was robbed of the win.

Personally I don't dispute that Jay was a worthy winner and preferred him to win over Kellie but I didn't think he was anything special and can barely remember anything other than his jive which was amazing.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Kellie had an off-putting personality and would have been out a lot sooner if the judges hadn't been on her side and sort of propped her up. She was in the bottom two twice, after all. I think it was the Gabby Logan syndrome. I'm sure she's a lovely person but she just wanted it too much - and didn't take criticism all that well - ok, but not what john q public - well, in this case, more like jane q public, wants to see. Gritted teeth or annoyance when there aren't 10's etc. is noticed, even if sort of subconsciously.

Oh and I agree with Dilly - I didn't think Jay was all that special. The jive was quite a surprise but the rest - meh. He was too "in his head" and tentative. I think Georgia was better than he was. I can't judge Kellie's dancing, compared to the other two - she seemed a good technician but not as elegant or fluid as I like to see in a dancer. Of the three, it's clearly Georgia for dancing (for me) - but personality? probably Jay. Georgia was a bit dull and maybe too over-eager (like Kellie)

But it wasn't just DS in which Jay was way in front on polls. Most other polls had him leading.

Exactly I thought Jay wasn't all that good a winner, but the wanted fans gushed over him. I voted him and Georgia throughout the series, but I do agree with the judges and thought he wasn't really anything special. Hope someone is on show next time who doesn't dominate in voting stats like Jay has done. Hope the BBC management get in someone who starts unpopular, but becomes more popular as time goes on.
