Since P.S. Surfaced after Amy and Rory's departure, I've always thought Chibnall would be the next lead to take over and that he would add abit more human heart back in the show. Have loved Moffat, and am excited to see what 2018 brings (and you know Moffats last series, well, he isn't going to go quietly!)

I for one am so glad moffat is going, I never liked him as a storyteller and the last series was so forgetful I recently had to watch chitty chitty bang bang just to fill the memory slot in my brain.
in my honest opinion Matt Smith could have been fantastic under a new writer, drop the silly 1980's cartoon bugs bunny effects and music, be a little more serious and yes I think he could have been getting awards every year.
peter capaldi is growing on me slowly although I still am not convinced and think his portrayal of the doctor has been cold and unforgiving where as David Tennant was entirely the opposite.
I enjoyed the stories written from other writers especially marc gatiss who I think should do the show as exec and main writer

Because a small group of deluded fans with a bee in their bonnet have made an awful lot of noise - either that or we are being trolled by 4chan members.

Dr. Who is ridiculously successful here and abroad. That is in no small part due to the efforts of Mr. Moffat. The program is at an all-time peak of popularity and critical acclaim. It's got one of the best actors ever to take the roll in one of the most critically acclaimed seasons since it's return - but according to them it's being 'ruined'. They have to be trolls or 'special' - I'm not sure which. Wishing him to leave is kind of like moaning about having to put up with Alfred Hitchcock directing your favourite horror film. I just shake my head at them.

Wishing Chibnall the best. I'm hoping that he does well.

Really annoyed about there being no Who this year.

How exactly would Gatiss be better than Moffat?

The more relevant question is how would he compare to Chibnall.

Strange that it was a pro-Moffat poster that introduced him to this thread and any anti Moffat postings have merely been in response to that, but of course that doesn't prevent the usual suspects from twisting the facts. Truth has never been their strong point. They just thrive on spitting their poison at anyone who disagrees with them.

Anyway I've got better things to do on a Saturday than argue with rabid Moffat fanboys. I learnt long ago that there is no use in trying to reason with them.

Why be rude? How about having an honest discussion without name calling.

Is Moffat off filming Sherlock this year then?

Well lots of people dislike Moffat. He is by his very nature a very polarising writer. And thats good, And many people have said they are glad hes going and thats fine. Its just the silly, inflammatory attention seeking of comments like 'he DESTROYED Doctor Who' that are just so eye rollingly silly and banal.

With all due respect this is the problem, you don't ignore them, you continually reply to anyone who dares criticise Moffat (often defending him by criticising aspects of RTD's era, which I always find rather amusing) and it just perpetuates argument and bad feeling on the forum.

It's the reason you are so often called a Moffat fanboy on here, you jump to his defence at the first sign of any dissent amongst the ranks.

So yes, just ignore them is great advice, the forum would be a happier place IMO.

Thing is I haven't. Lots of people have criticised Moffat. I dont comment. I often agree with them. Its just when the same people start trying to create wars on the threads that it seems necessary to comment. Its all there to read. Its obvious who is starting the arguments and why.

That said I suppose you are right. I shall once again utilize the forums tools to my advantage.

people underrate gatiss, his stories have been very good - I say give him a chance and he will be just as good (if not better) than anyone else. he is a very intelligent and good writer who understands the doctor who universe

But why continue the arguments, surely you are just as guilty of ruining threads as they are by fanning the flames, a war needs two opposing sides to be a war.......

If it's obvious who these posters are and why they post then why don't you follow your own advice and just ignore them?

In your opinion and he will suffer the same problems as Moffat, you know with the Sherlock thing.

Do you honestly wonder why nobody takes you seriously when anybody who likes Moffat is a "rabid Moffat fanboy" according to you? Very childish behaviour. No one's twisting any facts, but it's been pointed out that no opinion is more valid than another because of viewing figures. I'm sorry that makes you feel so threatened.

They haven't even began filming yet. So no, it wouldn't make a difference.

They really really wont. Unless you want it to be a puppet show or stick figure animations then its not logistically possible. Not remotely.

Highly unlikely. They don't start filming until May so the best they could do would be another tiresome split season with half the episodes being shown this year and half next year or a January 2017 start time. They opted to move it back to Spring, c'est la vie.
