I have a load of unfinalized DVDs that I recorded using my Toshiba RDXV59. However my DVD player is no longer working.

Is it possible to finalize these discs on other Toshiba DVD players? If so, would this only be possible on certain models? I think I would be able to buy the same model online but I want to be sure it will be able to finalize my discs.

I assume that you actually meant a recorder as you can't finalise a disk on a player of any make.

Having the exact same model of recorder would help as that would be most likely to be able to read the disks. There is a possibility that any Toshiba recorder will finalise the disks but even that cannot be guaranteed. If the recorder can read the disk content that would be an encouraging start.

Less likely is being able to use a different make of recorder altogether. If you can find a decent example of the same model then that is most likely to do the job followed by a different model of Toshiba recorder.

I don't think it's possible, finalising needs to be done as part of the session. Others could maybe clarify this.

It can be done on a PC with extra software like Nero Recode, it strips the files and places them on the hard drive so you can copy and finalise. DVD Decrypter will simply finalise the disc, a simple solution but seems to only work for some.

You can finalise a disk any time. Or at least with any recorder I've ever used (mostly Panasonic). It allows you to build up a series of recordings over several days then finalise the disk once complete.

Yes, finalise at anytime on the original recorder, don't think you can do it on any other machine though, pretty sure you're going to need some software to do it.
