For those who use Unblock-Us
Just a heads up for those who use Unblock-Us, they no longer accept PayPal as a payment method. The only payment options they now accept are: Visa, American Express, Diners Club and JCB. So for me, looks like come May I will be parting ways and looking elsewhere which is a shame. Quote:
Open: New Payment Method Options
Last Updated: Jan 22, 2016 08:18PM EST We've made some changes to the options for completing payments. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We've worked hard at keeping the disruption to a minimum. Here's what you need to know: We now accept payments by: Visa, Amercian Express, JCB, and Diners Club for USD subscriptions. Visa and American Express for CDN dollar subscriptions. If you were paying by any other method previously, please login to your account, and choose “Update payment Method”. Any outstanding invoice will be charged immediately. Otherwise, no charge will be processed until your regular renewal period. Due to changes in upgrading our billing interface some customers may not have the option to “Update payment method”. In this situation, choose option to “Manage your subscription & billing info.” Payment information can only be updated at the end of your billing cycle and once an invoice generates to be paid. Select “view invoice” and proceed to payment screen to add payment information. Payment will be processed immediately. Future automatic payments will be processed normally. |

Thank you for that information, unfortunately I am in the same boat as you & will need to jump ship, which is a shame as I was really happy with the service. A friend of mine uses Turboflix, so will take a look at them.

I read that as them adding new payment methods, nothing about them stopping using PayPal.
Have you had confirmation from them that they will no longer accept PayPal payments? It would be a bit strange for them to not notify their users by email, if this were the case... |

Hi Michael, Thank you for contacting us today. We apologize for any inconvenience the change of payment method may have caused, but current options are Visa, American Express, Diners Club and JCB. Please see this article for more detailed instructions on how to add/update new payment method. https://support.unblock-us.com/custo...method-options We cannot confirm yet at the moment if we can add Paypal back. |

Why would Paypal be removed? Seems odd, most people prefer it rather than credit card...

Could be a few reasons, maybe Paypal are charging to much or perhaps Film Studios / Netflix is putting pressure on them, and they see dropping Paypal as a way to placate them.

That's annoying... I was about to signup again but I'm not happy to give them direct access to my CC

Well, if Netflix are blocking access to VPN's/DNS servers, then Unblock US not accepting Paypal is a good excuse to cut ties with them from my end.

For people who accept money (not exclusively retailers!) PayPal are an absolute nightmare. They take a huge chunk, are very uncooperative in disputes and take an age to answer the simplest queries. My organisation has looked into dumping them.
HOWEVER, we don't deal with customers from multiple countries, where it would be simpler to have just one system such as paypal, so I'm surprised at this move by UnblockUS. Maybe it has something to do with the exchange rates they were getting from PayPal? |

I personally don't see the problem using a CC (unless of course you don't have one) I'd rather that than give my money to Ebay

I personally don't have a credit card and have no desire to do so, if I could I'd use my debit card, but as that's MasterCard it's ain't happening. |

Mastercard requires an annual $500 fee to use them worldwide (or US / EU)
Visa requires $500 in the USA - no fee required for EU so thats probably why there was a delay in accepting MC Also, I had the 'you're using a proxy you filthy paying vpn pirate scumbag tosser' on netflix. So midway through watching stuff, cant access it on netflix usa / belguium, not available on sky go, freeview, so um... what pay £20 for a blu-ray? its easier, quicker, usually better quality to go on the seven seas - y'ar m'ateys lets go fishing for ye 'treasure |

Here's the Unotelly email, Quote:
Thank you for your continued support at UnoTelly. My name is Nicholas Lin, and I’m the founder of UnoTelly.
On February 3rd, 2016, Paypal has severed payment processing agreement unilaterally and without prior warning. Paypal indicated that UnoTelly is not allowed to provide services that enable open and unrestricted Internet access. As result, UnoTelly can no longer accept payment from Paypal. This development is outside of our control, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you believe in an open Internet and value the services UnoTelly is providing, I hope you would continue your subscription by updating your payment method from Paypal to credit card. Here is how to update your payment method: http://help.unotelly.com/support/sol...rticles/216145 Thank you again for your support. Best Regards, Nicholas Lin CEO UnoTelly.com |

Here's the Unotelly email,
Sounds like PayPal are being leaned on by rights holders/Netflix to me. Why would they voluntarily want to lose business otherwise? I've added my Mastercard for now. Not that happy about it though really, especially as transactions in $ will attract a fee. |

Wonder who owns Paypal now?
It's strange that they still support Ebay, which has had a lot of problems with fake goods etc, but they want to take a stance against unrestricted internet. |

To be safe i have set up a pre paid visa card on ibvpn account, a pre paid card might be a good option for anyone who is wary about giving their credit/debit card info out.
