Hot Drink using cocoa, milk and water?

I like the idea of a milky cocoa drink.

Could I add some cocoa to a glass and then put half water and half milk in the kettle and pour it onto the cocoa once boiled?

Not a good idea to put milk in the kettle even with half water.

But I used to make it with water and then add some milk after, although the milk was cold so made the hot chocolate colder than it should be.

The best way is to microwave the milk in a microwavable bowl.

TBH the best ration IMO is just hot milk, heated in a pan if you have no microwave.

if you buy a tin or jar of cocoa powder it will have instructions on the tin

I'd forget the water.......just warm up a cup of milk in a pan, pour into a cup and add a couple of teaspoons cocoa powder (you can always add a bit until you get it right for your taste)

you might have to give it a damn good stirring to even out any lumps

Then you can move on to Horlicks........the King of Milky Drinks

I use a microwavable porriage bowl because it is less likely to spill over compared to a mug.

I microwave the milk for 2 mins and then add it to the powder at the bottom of the mug.

If you are using a pan on the hob, then you have to keep stirring until it starts to boil over. Then take it off the heat.
But I normally forget about it and end up with it burning the bottom of the pan.

I had the bright idea of using the communal kettle to boil milk when I was in a hall of residence at college. It made the most appalling stink imaginable and the kettle had to be thrown away. It didn't make me popular.
