Watched my recorded version of HK last night - and there was a bit when Stein (what a daft name ) was being sent back into the kitchen area, and he "high fived" the others and said "good luck to y'all" or summat.......


and then Angus said ".....apologies from ITV1..."??


what did I miss?? Did Steinboy say something rood or norty??

I played it back to see if I missed something.......but couldn't work out what Stein so said so bad that it warranted Angus to say "an apology"

and likewise, when Aby was being interviewed, she must have said something contentious as the sound was dipped

anyone out there able to answer this please??

There was some big scene in the blue kitchen last night, just before the eviction results.

Definitely a row with Aby & JC. And from what I can gather Stein disappeared after that and left Kellie & Gary on their own.

I'm hoping they show whatever happened on tonight's show

JC had sworn thankfully itv just caught him and turned his mic off in time

Stein said the f word when he walked past his fellow competitors and returned to the kitchen - he recounted this during HK live later.

However, ITV had removed the word before transmission on the earlier 'live' eviction, similar to when they also removed some words froms Aby's interview with Angus

There is a 5 second delay to cut out profanities!.......so it is live!

Are you sure it is only 5 seconds because if it is the edit during Aby's interview was extremely well timed.

And why cut out one f word in a programme being transmitted after 10pm? Did anyone see supernanny tonight on C4 9pm? - that had more than one f word and from kids only 4 yrs old

The bleeping out of 'strong language' is getting on my nerves..
The show goes out after 9pm every night and they say that it's live and there may be strong language and then bleep it all out!

Not that I particularly want to hear it but it can make conversations difficult to follow. Lord Knows, JC is hard enough to understand at the best of times

Channel 4 have a different broadcasting remit to ITV.

ITV is aware of families watching Hells Kitchen, and take this into account.

The more I think about this, the more I am amazed.

On live radio phone-ins, the host often uses a 7 second delay in an attempt to prevent the transmission of unsuitable material. This is a very crude solution that when activated by the host/ producer eliminates 7 seconds and the broadcast then goes live without any delay. i.e. it just deletes the previous 7 seconds. The host will then either talk himself or play jingles to allow time for a 7 second delay to rebuild. This is achieved by the speed of the transmission being very slightly slower than the actual ‘playing’ speed and takes a few minutes to achieve.

Now you are suggesting that ITV with just a 5 second delay can (a) identify the offending word or words, (b) edit out the offending word or words and replace them with ‘background sound’, (c) recut the edited footage back into the live stream and (d) broadcast all this seamlessly.

With Aby’s edited expletives lasting a good 2 seconds, I must admire how ITV achieve all the above in less than 3 seconds on HK.

Maybe the producers of HK should give some advice to the programme makers of IACGMOOH and Big Brother, where their live shows are certainly delayed significantly longer than 5 seconds – around 10-15 minutes is the going rate on those shows
