I have recently been called a number of things (in the just-been-closed discharge thread) I was just accused of being "an idiot" , "assuming everything is women hating. " among a few other things including the very charming "lazy" and "cowardly".
The funniest was "a crazy feminist".

so let's clear this up, what is feminism?

It means whatever the person using it wants it to mean .... that's part of the problem of that word.

Simply..... those that fight for same opportunities for women as men

Feminism is the belief that men and women be treated equally.

Men or women who dislike the term, are probably misinformed as to its meaning imo

Or they don't think believe men and women are equal...

Yes, there is that.

They are wrong, of course

Edit: to the OP, I just went and read the thread you mentioned, and I thought some of the comments were unnessessarily rude.

Indeed ennui 57 - they were very rude to me. I feel depressed about the rudeness and ignorance displayed. And very bored by the continued (intentional) lack of understanding about what feminism is.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. My wife forgot to run my bath and the fuse went while she was ironing my shirt for work tomorrow and I had to go and change the fuse for her before having my bath.

It is hard to explain, but if you aren't single you could ask your BETTER HALF. However if you are single and over 35 you shouldn't worry about it, just go and give your cats their night feed

Modern Feminism is evil and isn't needed in the Western World anymore.

Feminism is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment.

Is there a prize? I've won, haven't I?

Go me (and google)

Unfortunately that is pretty much the norm these days whenever any conversation about feminism is started. There's a small faction that have become so threatened by it that whenever it's brought up, they immediately try to shut down the conversation either by calling people feminazi, or hairy ugly lesbians. This is not about DS but something I've been noticing on social media and other websites lately.

Feminism to me is acknowledging that you are female and going with it.

It's equality.
Being equally respected despite AND because of our differences.
Not supremacy.

Obviously not . I did think your post was too ridiculous to be serious. It's always a good idea to put some kind of emoticons on posts like yours as it removes all doubt.

Egalitarianism is equality. Feminism isn't.

Feminism is the belief that men and women should not be treated equally. If possible everything should be blamed on men.

I too thought it stood out like a sore thumb as being too ridiculous to be serious but obviously I was wrong :

In the context of this forum at this particular time a feminist is a woman who believes that it is unacceptable to publicly humiliate a woman on national television because she has normal vaginal secretions in her underwear. Be proud OP for being"accused" of being a feminist because you probably are one - which is wonderful!
