Tonight's HLs were an abject lesson in peer pressure

First, John notices the crusty knickers and reacts like a schoolboy. Okay, as homosexual men John and Christopher might never have witnessed that before but Darren, married with daughters (?) surely has. He just didn't know how to react under the circumstances (peer pressure) and didn't have the wherewithal to explain to two grown men how a vagina works. "We need to name and shame now", says John. Umm.. Okay John, whatever you say, mate.

John goes into the bedroom, acting all disgusted, and proceeds to ask who's disgusting enough to have left their disgusting knickers out like that, or words to that effect. Megan and Daniella vehemently deny ownership of said knickers but play along with the notion that such a thing is indeed disgusting (peer pressure). At that point Gemma intimated that 'discharge' as it's called (not 'pigeon shit') is fairly normal, but Daniella and Megan just drop their heads admonishing, "I ain't got no red knickers".

When John finally asked Stephanie she knew straight away that they were her red knickers. John telling her that they were brought in from the bathroom was enough to confirm it for her, at which point she denied it. She felt like everyone was laughing at her so she denied her own bodily function! I think she would have quietly binned them if she could, but realized that she'd been 'outed'. I think what upset her the most is that, momentarily at least, she'd felt she had to deny it (peer pressure). Even Daniella ended up crying in the DR because she'd been called a bully. She was so desperate that other people don't believe she's a bully that she was moved to tears!

..Sorry for the long post. I guess I'm just waffling now.

I agree with your take.
I think Darren had an opportunity to stand up and be counted, but failed yet again.
And it pains me to say this and I know it won't be popular, but I must credit Gemma for saying it was normal and not reacting like the other two girls.

Christopher did say at first that they should get rid of the knickers. But perhaps he too should have been a bit more upstanding.

Pretty much.

Danielle is always really gobby when the person involved is not in the room. Ramping it up, Horrible woman, stirring like a witch.

I don't leave my knickers lying about and it isn't peer pressure that made me that way but my mother telling me to pick up after myself and take responsibility for my things. I guess in some peoples view that makes her a bully.

Did she show your stained knickers to all the neighbours on the street first and let them all laugh and be disgusted by your dried vaginal fluids?

If no, then she's a very good mother.

If yes, then sorry, your mum's a right nob.

Neither did Stephanie.

As for the rest of your post, what are you talking about? Nobody is claiming that your mother is/was a bully, or that tidying up after yourself has anything to do with peer pressure.

It''s a mother''s job to teach her children these things.

I wonder how you would have felt, however, if when having the neighbours round for dinner she decided to teach you the rights and wrongs of leaving your knickers lying around by naming and shaming you and showing the contents to all and sundry.

I agree with this, but then when Gemma went to have a look at the pants, she said I'm sorry but that's not normal. Thus making it even more humiliating for Steph.

No she taught be to clean up after myself before I hit puberty. Right after she stopped changing my nappies. And way before I hit 22.

I think that's pretty normal rather than sign of great parenting.

She was probably so understanding and accommodating before as she was unsure if they were going to be her knickers or not.

But you agree had she done that then she would have been a bully.

Fortunately she didn't therefore she wasn't.

It was John who did that not any of the women. theg just laughed about it. As did Jeremy.

Where your wandering analogy breaks down is right at the beginning. Stephanie left her dirty laundry with all the other dirty laundry, just as you do, exactly how dear ol' Mum told you to.

There is a word for straight men who obsess over the secretions in the underwear of young women who they are not sexually involved with = PERVERT there is a word for Gay men who are horrified at the idea of the normal workings of a woman's vagina = Misogynist There are also words for older, less attractive, women who jump at the chance to humiliate a young girl about what's in her knickers = nasty, gossiping, jealous, fat, old ugly biaatches. Jeremy and Tiffany are the only two people in that house to emerge from those sordid scenes with a modicum of dignity.

The only person who genuinely laughed about it sincerely was Jeremy. The only man who acted with any decorum was Jeremy. The only person who did not succumb to peer pressure which is what the thread is about was Jeremy.

Over the last few days that boy has gone up in my estimation.

I have to agree with this. Jeremy only laughed in a light-hearted way at the situation, not at Stephanie. Daniella and co. giggled in whispers, pointing out to each other that they were probably Steph's knickers, and the 'boys' made sure everyone thought it was disgusting.

Oh, and obviously Tiffany comported herself well. She was rightly astounded that the other women had allowed that to happen, I think.

I'm a woman and if I had handled soiled underwear or seen it on the dining table I would react with an uuuugggh too. It doesn't mean the gay men are "horrified at the idea of the normal workings of a woman's vagina".

They brought the laundry out of the bathroom and put it on the table. I don't think any of them were then disgusted about it being on the table.

I had a gut feeling Jeremy was at heart a decent guy. One who at least would treat women the way he'd want his sister to be treated, I absolutely detest the three men who did that to Stephanie now and hope Jeremy wins. Anyone who sides with the five "adults" who humiliated that wee girl on national TV have never had or loved a teenaged daughter who God Forbid has ever had a bit of dirty laundry lying about the place.

Someone should have stopped the situation from spiralling as it did. I am shocked it got so much attention, it was very school playground behaviour.

Are you in the habit of putting dirty laundry on your dining table? My post also VERY CLEARLY did not refer to ALL Gay men any more than it referred to all straight men as perverts. I suggest you read it again and I would also suggest that you do not publicly examine the contents of young women's underwear on your dining table.

John acted like a 12 year old. God imagine if he found blood in her knickers. He would of had a breakdown!
