Must be all kinds of reactions going on here. Didnt The Voice beat SNT every week last year? May be wrong-might be the share wins for the BBC on the night.

Anyways great start for SNT, and it seems to be a show people will go back to if what is elsewhere isn't delivering and that is a quite shocking result for TVUK. Ok it wasn't the greatest of cup ties as a lead in especially with its dead 15 minutes but still. I wonder if BBC chiefs are breathing a sigh of relief rather than worritting about losing a banker. They would have had the task of the first real coach clear out since it began to contend with(and they were positively naive with Sir Tom) plus it wont be on their back anymore. ITV have no such worries as they are starting afresh, but I would go with four new coaches as I said before.

Big ouch....

The Voice UK - 5.51m (24.2%)

Jenny Cummins ‏@jscummins 1m1 minute ago
.@antanddec's #SaturdayNightTakeaway back with 7.4m/33% share - up by nearly 1m viewers yr on yr. Peak of 8.1m viewers.

That is a brilliant rating for SNT. A sizeable rating for ITV! Who'd have thought it?
Wow massive rating for SNT and well deserved, best Saturday night show of the year bar none, IMO.

Ouch 3 seasons and a kids spin off... Coming soon to ITV
Still be up year on year on what ITV show now in whatever slot they put it in.

Unlike the BBC a where it is way down year on year, and whatever they show next year will probably be down as well.

Not remotely. They used it as a family friendly lead-in to a big returning brand. They could have got more out of it with promotion but it'll repeat well.

Movies aren't so much a priority for ITV, they don't tend to make such a fuss. They've probably got their Christmas Day 3.10pm offering sorted but managed to get a bit of extra value out of it first.
Exactly, plus they'll repeat it on ITV2 umpteen times.

Excluding a very small number of titles, or on BBC1 on Christmas Day, the days of film premieres being massive middle of prime time spectaculars are long gone.

A quality film premiere deserves more respect than being the warm-up man for the Fivehead Twins. It was thrown away in that slot. I recall speculation here last year that it would be taking a prominent slot on a key date this year, Xmas?
Well if nobody sees it in the premiere the second screening will rate higher. Won't it?

Dreadful for such a smart, funny and gorgeous-looking film. ITV clueless yet again.
The scheduling wa s genious, but no promotion was not. If it go some trailers out during the week, the film would have got over 4m at least. As it is, it got nothing.

Should be a bit +1 though I would've thought, and will rpt well. On next Sunday ITV2.

Fantastc start for Takeaway. I knew it would do well with a compatible lead in. Next week TVUK will likely go down as the autitions are over.

The Voice's blind auditions averaged 6.52m this year, down a whopping -20% on last year's 8.19m.

That's what happens when ITV collapse. TVUK gained quite a big casual audience.

As long as ITV keep TVUK out of the centre of primetime, it will be fine. Particularly on Sunday in the 6.30pm slot which is wallowing sub 2m.

Like all your alternative scheduling ideas, You don't know that. Would seem quite a big ask for 5pm on a Saturday.

Avengers got a big rating and was treated with some respect. Presumably if ITV had it, it would've been the lead-in for Planet's Got Talent or some other light-ent nonsense.

2.55m (14.4%) exc. +1 for Despicable Me 2.
That's a great rating for Takeaway, well up on last year. I'm surprised Despicable Me 2 wasn't higher, can't help thinking it would have been with more promotion. The Voice is down. Blame the new coaches? Singing show fatigue? Is it fixable? Should ITV be concerned?

Finally something up YoY on ITV!
Quite a few shows are up year on year in 2016, Takeaway, Birds, Midsomer? Vera? Take Me Out?. They've had a much stronger start than 2015.

The Championship: 0.31m (1.5%)
Goal Rush: 0.33m (1.8%)
Those figures look unacceptable in anyone's world. How long have Channel 5 got this contract and are they locked in to a prime time showing?

So do think a trailer would help? Despicable Me has been repeated so many times that I suspect the audience were not aware it was a film premiere.

Look what The Jungle Book and other films get on Ch4 when given trailers. I can safatly say that its a definite DM2 would have done 1m+ better if ITV had run trailers.

It probably would yes. But it quite clearly wasn't ITV's top priority last night. They should have given it something but it's hardly going to keep them awake tonight.

Also The Jungle Book aired in the run up to Christmas when family films tend to do better. I'm sure this one will get another run at Christmas.

.....................perhaps the Beeb should have played the News/Regional News in a 6.40-7.15 slot and an earlier cup start. From purely a ratings perspective what they didn't want was SNT hitting the ground running and the dullish cup game with the actionless quarter hour really has made the 7.00pm junction as inviting as it could be. Ironically the much heralded cup contract hasn't helped the BBC last night, forced into a mediocre choice its made the declining Voice even worse.

That's fantastic for Takeaway, and looks like the perfect lead in for TMO which seems to be well over 4m with +1 for the first time in years?

It needn't be terminal. ITV have time to think about the style and the personnel, they can do what they have been good at in the past-feeding the press an on-going narrative with this kind of show. I enjoy it, the blinds are very watchable and a far more friendlier feel than XF and even BGT. I think curiosity will provide a big launch audience next year-they just have to hit the ground running. I think ITV will try and squeeze a couple more auditions out of it and don't forget SNT may be feeding an audience next year. Scheduling will be interesting with Rugby/SNT/TVUK/TMO to fit in on some Saturdays. I wonder if TVUK will go to Sunday?

Not sure about TVUK. I don't know when the actual news broke about the show ending at the BBC in relation to the filming. I caught up episode 3 and Ricky Wilson seems a bit lacklustre, he made his decision to quit and it feels a bit end of term tbh. That may transfer to the lives too-potentially none of the coaches will be back.

I think they used up all there trailer space with SNT it was literally being advertised every 10 minutes for the last two weeks talk about overkill but it obviously worked.

How can they have news at 6.40 since they can't start before 5 because of the blackout window?

These type of LE shows thrive on hype and pretend leaks to the press and little tit bits on this coach, she does not get on with this one and oh what was she wearing. Cowell is the master and saying pap to the press. It was keeps these types of shows going. It's all shit, but its part of the circus.

Well they get first pick of the ties, but as I understand weren't allowed to show Chelsea- Man City on Saturday. They have scheduling choices from Friday to Monday but BT and the Police have choices too. The outcome was a rather mediocre tie which went with form. A Pointless/News lead in and a 7pm TVUK start would probably have lead to a less standout start for SNT. As it was, the 7.00-7.15 period was a defenceless target.

Great for SNT. Andy the fan boy is happy this morning.

TVUK suffering and it can only get worse now the blinds are done. Could be less than
5 million very soon.

Casualty plugging along very nicely.
