Full article on The Sun. Interesting that Olly gets a full statement about how he's quitting to focus on his music and a full gushing statement from Cowell going on about them working together on other TV shows, whilst Caroline just got The Sun reporting she's axed with no other correspondence and Grimmy had to blag something on his radio show.

Pretty clear who's in favour after the series and who isn't.

Isn't Murs on Cowell's record label still? He's going to try to protect his credibility if he can still make money out of him.

He is. Just from watching the series you got the impression Cowell was much fonder of Murs than Flack as well.

To be fair putting him on another format wouldn't be a bad idea. Just not one that involves live presenting. He's a good TV personality and could work well on a pre-recorded format or in a different kind of role but was exposed as a host on a massive, highly pressurised live show.

No idea who they'll get this time. Simon and Dermot seemed to have a bit of a tiff recently but if both parties were interested I'm sure it'd be resolved. I know Dermot didn't initially want to go back but Getaway Car isn't doing brilliantly. It might depend on how this thing with Gino D'Acampo goes.

There aren't a great deal of candidates jumping out to be honest. The recent quotes seemed to suggest they wanted to go back to just having a single host but I can't think of many who'd be a particularly great fit.

Caroline and Olly were a disaster on the live shows. They were fine at the pre-recorded sections and fell apart once it went live.

Not many potential candidates. I hope they can get Dermot back, but I won't hold my breath. What about Davina McCall or Emma Willis? Both have lots of live TV presenting experience.

Emma Willis is having a baby soon.

What about Rylan. He can do live presenting

Yes basically you cant have your hosts operating like that. It didn't work and the show hasn't got enough time to wait for them to gel.

Mind you, good or ill XF is never quiet is it? There is always something -whether it is made up or not, trivial or serious-being fed along the press wires keeping the thing seemingly never out of the public eye. You think it would drive people insane.

Yes I'd agree with that. I quite liked them on the recorded shows (well, mainly Olly as Caroline didn't seem to turn up for half of them!) but it didn't work live.

Emma Willis is an interesting shout. Obviously she's on The Voice but Cowell isn't averse to a bit of poaching and the headlines it generates. Plus it could work well as ITV might want new hosts on The Voice anyway to make it feel like a new show.

Davina's great but I doubt she'd do it. I think after last year they probably need a relatively safe pair of hands (although Caroline Flack probably seemed reasonably safe at the time!). Stephen Mulhern is surely a no-no. Melvin & Rochelle were fine on Xtra but I wouldn't promote them to the main show. Dave Berry if they still want someone off the radio? Again a bit uninspiring.

One potential idea could be to get a comedian on there to try and make it a bit more lighthearted, but in practice I'm not sure how well that'd actually work.

Would be quite amusing if both Dermot and Louis Walsh end up back on the show this year. Would make last year's revamp look totally redundant. Maybe they should have just stuck with what they had in 2014 (or even in 2013 but with Cowell in for Barlow).

Sadly UEFA and their huge contract with BT Sport call the shots now. Tomorrow Man U have their fixture and then on Thursday they have a Europa League match. While obviously the clubs like the money, these overly long and congested European tournaments do hurt the domestic game. Also the fairly pointless Europa League, which is a second string tournament turned into a poor man's Champions League, should be done away with and should go back to being a knockout tournament. The lack of interest in it beyond hardcore football fans is shown by it never being shown on a main channel like BBC One or ITV( excluding the final).

ITV showed some games from the Europa league on main itv in the last few seasons before it went to BT. I think it was usually from the knockout rounds

Any chance of XF getting O'Leary and Flack? Now bear with me here... I thought Flack was even more awful than Olly, especially considering her vast presenting experience, and for some reason was never pulled up on it half as often as he was. However most people seem to disagree with this view so could they have Flack back with O'Leary returning alongside her? It'd be an out for Dermot not looking like he was simply returning to present the show solo again one series after apparently "quitting". He could say he really missed it and presenting with someone else "adds a new dimension" or some other bull excuse...:d

Please no more Emma Willis. She really isn't gods gift to presenting.

Decent figure, although it would be much higher were it not treated like cr*p and shunted around the schedule, some weeks on then others off.

Looks like Dickensian caused there to be less viewers for Countryfile.
