Bill has been getting up at 3.30 a.m. for 15 years now and has done a splendid job on Breakfast.Surely he deserves a lie-in. His last show is on Friday and I believe some surprises are planned. A far better presenter than anyone on GMB or Sky Sunrise and a genuinely nice bloke.A Wycombe Wanderers fan to boot....

Another show going down the lazy route of having guest presenters instead of finding a replacement.

I expect he might be bored of doing the same show every Saturday morning, not to mention having to work on a Saturday. He's had ever chef on dozens of times, every guest on dozens of times, every item of food cooked, probably not much more he can get from it.

Presenting a different series about food, like the ones he's done already, might be more interesting.

Of course the rule on this forum seems to be that once you get on the BBC payroll you should stay in the same job until you are carted off in a box and be happy with what you've got.

Of course if his first post retirement project was a relaxed countryside show on ITV, you'd now change your opinion and start a hate campaign against him.

He's actually doing a quiz show for BBC1 and continuing with Songs of Praise, I wish him every success whatever he does

Agree, and well publicised. No need for any ITV countryside walk shows.

Last Saturday he has done ten years, maybe a logical time to move on.

As long as it's not with ITV of course?

Whereas your rule is always get a dig in on every post you make. It's a bit tiresome.

Maybe it's a guest presenter till they find the right one. It's built a significant audience so they don't want to throw it away by choosing the wrong person.

10 years in one presenting job is more than enough.

BIB That'll have to be on BBC1 now that BBC3 is online only.

Incidentally, are people are aware that BBC3 television channel is still transmitting programmes between 2am and 4am? Don't Tell The Bride on weekdays and Mongrels at the weekend.

BBC being typically careless in now losing both Bill Turnbull and James Martin from their morning line-ups.”

I don't think there can be any complaints though. 15 years for Bill and 10 for James-a pretty big one project commitment in the tv world and all for the benefit of the BBC. Cant really expect much more.

Happy Valley is a great drama, but like Broadchurch its not as good as the 1st series.

Cooking and all the preparation from 3:30am onwards for 10 years sounds awful as well.

Down to about 2 million I think.

I was one of the few that actually enjoyed it seemingly. The little girl playing Emma Kennedy was brilliant I thought.
Too few viewers though. No DVD either.

Amazon have Home Fires series 2 for release 9th May, so I think after Churchill's Secret and Doctor Thorne for 3 episodes, Sunday will have Sunday Night at The Palladium at 7pm, The Durrells at 8pm and Home Fires at 9pm.

I wonder if Maigret will air Easter Sunday or Easter Monday? If Home Fires' series 2 DVD is out 9th May then it might be starting April 3rd.

Talks on the radio times xmas thread that there will be a royle family xmas special this year, I hope this is true, should rate reasonably high, considering how low the bar is now set.
