Dermot O'Leary is returning to host TXF in a three-year deal

- The Sun”

I thought there was a news item recently that had Dermot saying that he wasn't doing TXF.

Does the 3 year deal imply that ITV have also renewed TXF for a further 2 years or is this just speculation based upon a man and his dog in a pub who overheard it from a cleaner and then reported to The Sun.

Interesting re: Royle Family at Xmas. It would be good to see a new special.

Hopefully Christmas this year on BBC1 is all change. I'd like a split EastEnders, Royle Family, a special Christmas Bake Off episode, Doctor Who and another comedy of some kind (perhaps involving James Corden rather than Mcintyre who is boring now!?). CTM should move to Christmas Eve.

Rather shocked if the Dermot back to XF thing is true. There are rumours Dannii Minogue is coming back to the UK panel which, if true, could pave the way for a complete clone of the last successful series (2010), if Louis Walsh comes back as well. i.e. Simon, Cheryl, Dannii and Louis with Dermot as host.

It would be the last throw of the dice, trying to get viewers to forget 5 years between those glory days and 19 million peaks and the tragedy that is now.

You can see why E4 loves Tattoo Fixers so much, repeated almost as much as the Big Band Theory.

Usually a presenter leaves because they have a better offer elsewhere but keep it under their hat.

I thought Dermot was going to the BBC what with his marathon and stepping in for Terry Wogan on Children In Need. Apart from that BBC car crash programme could it be they could not find a vehicle for him?

Maybe XF trying to skew a bit older and bring back the older audience whilst retaining the important youth demo.

Be on it's knees by week six. Persuading RR to do any as yet unfilmed segments in a bikini is the only salvation for it now!

I guess the 'naming his price' is too good an opportunity to pass up.

However changing hosts and changing judges isn't going to help a show which I feel is suffering from viewer fatigue. Along with Pop Idol which ran before TXF, we will have had at least 15 years of this type of programming on ITV. It's very difficult to pull out of a decline especially with the numbers that TXF has been receiving over the last few years.

I don't think Romesh Ranganathan in a bikini would do much for ratings.

This Morning today was quite a mess. Quadruple presenters!

Aside from Holly and Phil Keith Lemon as a guest took over the show after sticking on the sofa and was then joined by Rylan.

Chaos ensued. Especially with an item live linked by satellite to Gino DiCampo with the longest delay between question and answers imaginable.

Anyhow, they seemed to be giving the Dermot back to X Factor story on a 3 year deal some substance and even asked Holly if she would go back in the same circumstances. She said yes on a three year deal.

Rylan said he understood the job was Dermot's to refuse and he wanted him to do it.

He added that Tom Jones has offered to take a huge pay cut if ITV will have him back on The Voice.

Oh, and they received a Transgender TV award from TMZ (TransgenderMediaZone) who have longed praised the show for its handling of trans issues and pilloried Keith Lemon for his. So to have him sat there and asking what it was might mean it will be their last such award from TMZ. Though Keith was uncharacteristically silent after Phil explained it (so he was maybe told to curb any reply through his earpiece).

I thought he would have been given the Friday night One Show gig

Very much doubt we would see a Bake Off on Christmas night - one of the pleasures of it is to try and recreate the bakes but would be too late to do a Christmas cake or pudding (which takes weeks to mature anyway) this is why their masterclasses have been shown a week or two before Christmas to give time to prepare

He's never "gone to the BBC", he's been a freelance presenter working for many channels. He's been on BBC Radio since 2003, which is by far his longest running commitment, and he has presented shows for numerous channels including the BBC...

I don't think Dermot being on The X Factor did his career much good, to be honest, and this would look totally desperate for both parties.

I think The X Factor even as it is now is a much bigger gig than Fridays on The One Show!

One of The X Factor's executive producers, Richard Holloway, has written quite an interesting piece about The X Factor and its future on Broadcast. It's quite long so I won't copy it all across here but here's the link: http://m.broadcastnow.co.uk/5100802.article

Thoughts?
