ITV coverage of the #BRITs2016 averaged slto-winning 5.8m/27.6% from 8pm with a peak of 6.6m/30.8% @brits http://www.overnights.tv

Increase of around 100-200k on last year. Pretty good.

Good for The Brits, it was flat year on year.

BBC is saying that Tony Blackburn was sacked because he denied being questioned by Bill Cotton about sex allegations when the records show he was questioned but nothing was proved.Sounds a bit tenuous, perhaps he just forgot.

As for the new hosts the pair of them whilst nice enough were so wrong for the main gig.

Davina and Dermot would be a good combo worked together in the past, but on a new show if they wanted some safe hands.

Simon Keeps saying year on year how Massive changes will happen, But its the same format, Loads of joke acts then sob stories, Fake Drama that doesn't fool anyone
and a winner that sinks without a trace.

He's got the money I would drop the record deal and actually make a cash prize (with the prospect of a record deal) like the runners up and other performers get. All the focus on getting a record deal means nothing with them all getting dropped the 1st chance the company gets.”

Obviously they've been disappointed with how Murs and Flack didn't work out, but in the last series I don't recall "loads of joke acts." I also thought the sob stories had been cut right down, you'll always get some drama though.

As for the artists "sinking without trace" if you look back over the history of the winners and runners up the majority of them have done very well. Some have lasted a couple of years, others several years - quite a few have gone into other areas (presenting, performing/acting etc...). Whilst Ben Haenow (2014 winner) has been dropped from Syco and Louisa Johnston's single didn't do so well Syco/Simon Cowell's decision to drop artists will be no different to the hundreds of record companies/managers/producers in the UK and USA who would do the same if an artist isn't selling. There have been thousands of singers and bands down through the years who have lasted 1 single, 2 years, 5 years, 20-50 years - Cowell's track record (even though he has only been around for 10+ years) with his artists is no different.

Indeed if you look at the likes of Top Of The Pops where record producers were desperate to get their act on air (in front of millions of impressionable teenagers) to promote their single then Cowell is no different.

I believe he said he did not speak to Bill Cotton 'in that context', not that he never spoke to him at all.

Quite thread today.

Leading into Doctor Thorne is three part series The Story Of Cats. Given how well Ch4 rpt of The Zoo did at 7pm, I think this is good scheduling. But Beowulf at 7pm is not helpful and is doing no good whatsoever.

I can see Story of Cats flopping in that slot. The Beowulf lead-in is as bad as it gets and the first episode will be against Call The Midwife. Seems like a recipe for disaster. Episodes 2 and 3 might do a little better but I can't see it doing much. Not sure how well Doctor Thorne will do either, the trailer I saw the other dat wasn't very appealing, the lead-in won't be up to much and The Night Manager will be tough competition. I think they'll be glad this lineup is only running for 3 weeks.

I think they'll air Maigret Sets a Trap on Easter Sunday. After that in April I think we might get back to back drama with The Durrells at 8pm and Home Fires at 9pm. Home Fires is back in April looking at Twitter and The Durrells looks to be starting in early April too looking at this: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/itv-th...m_term=listing

They normally run those events a day or two before the series airs. Also the description there makes me think it'll definitely be pre-watershed and Sunday is pretty much the only option in that regard.

I assume it'll be Palladium at 7pm. Catchphrase and Off Their Rockers might have to go in the Summer this year.

Beowulf needs shifted. I get that it cost ITV a lot so they wont stick it on at 10.35 one night but I am sure if they put it on a Tuesday at 8pm or 9pm it wouldnt look as bad

I don't think The Story of Cats given a supportive lead in would do that badly against CTM. But with Beowulf as a lead in, its not going to help. Tbh I still bemused as to why such a flop is still in the same flipping slot.

The double drama with Palladium at 7pm looks strong. As long as The Durrells is not awful.

I think Maigret will do well. It looks like a drama that should appeal to the older audience on Sunday.

Has Off Their Rockers been recommissioned then? The last series did poorly, and the badly scheduled special episodes on the Monday after Vicious was sub 2m. I think its run its course, although if they do air it in Summer than would be better than Spring.

Interesting suggestion Tuesday at 8! Another (from me) random thought:-

Why did they not try it on Saturday at 5pm-6pm, then It's Not Rocket Science 6-7pm leading into SNT.

Beowulf and RS appealing to a younger male audience then light factual for the family?

Tuesday 8pm is a disaster, they would be as well trying The Celebrity Chase in there until they are clear what they want to do with it.

Jericho's just finished on ITV and it seems (according to the good lady and posters on the thread) that the finale left it open (?) to another series. If a 2nd series does happen surely it will be a minor miracle?!

Just said on the Jericho thread they need to have alternative endings done for these 1st series. This was easy to tie up with just a few changed scenes right at the end. The Paradise on BBC1 messed up second series by writing a story arc and then having to unpick it for a second series.

Yeah I just watched the last ep and it has been left open for another series.

It hasnt done well with the overnight ratings but with recordings etc added it hasnt done too bad.

I think if the overseas sales are good on top of the consolidated ratings it might get a second series but it would need easier competition

Anti-Murdoch Hacked Off leader
Steve Coogan must be pleased
he took all his TV shows (even

The brand new Alan Partridge
series Mid Morning Matters
debuted on Sky Atlantic this
week. It got 16,000 viewers.

Mind you, it does seem that
no-one's really watching Sky
Atlantic at all. Girls and
the much-touted Vinyl have
both tanked. There's a lot
of people rather desperate
for April and Game Of Thrones
to come round and pull them
out of this slump.

Because it really doesn't do
much for all your channel's
super-hip branding if your
biggest show is actually
Tom Selleck in Blue Bloods.”
