So The X-Files followed by Gotham? That's actually pretty good scheduling.

That looks like a good choice to me, with Crimewatch and Benidorm the main opposition.

I'd wager that is the main reason it has ended up on Mondays. That and the fact Gotham itself performed well there up until the dreaded midseason break.

I would have preferred Tuesdays, but it's worked out okay to begin with.

From week 2 onwards though it'll be facing new episodes of The Walking Dead on Fox.

I don't know what ITV have planned after Benidorm, but it wouldn't surprise if BBC One is just full of odds and ends on Mondays at 9pm until Easter: maybe a Sport Relief programme or two, possibly another Crimewatch in March, a New Tricks repeat or two, and maybe a Motorway Cops.

With ITV's autumn schedule looking full probably means we won't see safe house and unforgotten series 2 until 2017 alongside broadchurch.

Oh really? Well if both channels could hold out on any new dramas in that slot for the 6 weeks X-Files is on, I'm sure C5 would be very grateful.

Meanwhile in America, the second episode aired last night and this one was a bigger test without the massive NFL lead-in it enjoyed on Sunday. Fair to say it passed with flying colours though, managing 9.7m viewers and a 3.2 in the demo. It's only the second Fox show this season to post a rating higher than 3.0, the other being Empire:

Despite a few critics trying to put the show down, mostly for the wrong reasons IMO - why have they brought it back; does it need to come back? - rather than concentrating on reviewing the show itself, it appeared to hold up well enough to suggest that viewers on the whole feel differently. I hope that bodes well for the UK premiere also.

EE went through a lull last year but has been excellent since the episode that aired on 29/12. It's very rare for the soap forum to be in agreement on anything but that's pretty much the consensus there.

I don't think Corrie being ahead has got anything to do with quality. It just generally is, helps that it skews older than EE. EE as we know does better on catch up than the others.

They include +1 but, like Mediatel, are not tapechecked :

Emmerdale: 6.179m (33.0%)
Coronation Street (7.30pm): 7.308m (36.0%)
Coronation Street (8.30pm): 6.953m (32.0%) (would have been higher than this!)”

Thanks
I must have missed that post yesterday

BBC1 didn't run any drama on Mondays after Silent Witness last year and I don't think they will this year. It'll face Benidorm on ITV for 3 weeks. I think the following 3 weeks might be Scott & Bailey, so a decent show but I can't imagine there being much crossover with The X Files.

Fantastic rating for The X Files in the US. Looks to have helped their new drama Lucifer get off to a good start too. Two much needed ratings for an otherwise struggling Fox.

Yes the second Monday episode normally finishes at 20.55 so therefore requires a tape-checking adjustment. Would be around 7.5m/7.6m tape-checked but sadly we don't have those number anyway. This is normally the case with the second Friday episode too. Normally Corrie runs to time for the rest of the week so no tape-checking is needed and these episodes can still be compared like for like versus a year ago.

The equivalent episodes last year both averaged 8.2m. That was coming off the mini bus crash episodes the week before.

Are you able to get the tape-checked numbers for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday?

Thanks cylon.

It's just for Emmerdale and Corrie for those 3-days.

Just watched The Rack Pack, excellent stuff. Shame we'll never get the full viewing figures, but a week on it's still in the 'Most Popular' list on iPlayer.

Great having Ray F***ing Purchase playing Cliff Thorburn!!!

Good night's viewing with episode 5.2 of GOT and another excellent episode of Siblings.

That proves the point about the second episode needing tape checking adjustment.

Had this not been pointed out we would have had a string of posts as a knee jerk reaction pointing out how they'd lost 0.7m between episodes due to Stuart Blackburn!

Have to say that Channel 5 must be hoping The X Files does well.

Do you watch Corrie?Do you not feel that without a poor tenure under Blackburn, people wouldn't be so quick to jump on Corrie's figures. There is no doubting the fact, his tenure has hit Corrie hard in quality and ratings.

When its poor like it is now, it deserves every low figure it gets. Though admitadely its not as bad as it was last year.

Will ITV at last have a hit in the 8pm with Sugar Free Farm? Sounds like something on BBC2. I just cannot tell because ITV's Tuesday's struggle to get over 3m.

Also I notice ITV2 next Wednesday will be showing Grease: Live. I really hope they do another live show this Christmas.

Ch4 will do well next Tuesday with 'Secret Life of the Zoo' and the return of The Supervet. As will BBC2 will Back In Time for the Weekend.

CBB missed a huge opportunity to reach 3m tonight but apparently the now 'ex boyfriend' of a housemate rejected so they ended up getting Gillian McKeith haha. Such a waste and I know people online are annoyed. Can't see it getting more than 2.5m

As for X Files what are we thinking? High 1s/low 2s?

I reckon it will still get around 2.7m for tonight, expect it to drop in the episodes after though....
