No idea what to make of that. It doesn't look great although I assume that share is wrong as I don't think 30 million were watching TV at 10.15pm last night!

The Ratings Thread's favourite MP has been on again. This time, making the case for C4 privatisation as he "looks at options" concerning a possible sale:

It comes less than a week after C4 chief exec David Abraham blasted the government for stalling over the issue.

No surprises there. C4 is a worthy sale item for a government that is failing to pay it's way. They will sell anything that isn't nailed down.

Anyone know if this info on the Good Morning Britain Wikipedia page is true?...

'Although the ratings have been up and down since the programmes launch, since Piers Morgan has joined the presenting line up, the ratings have increased to over 700,000 daily average. On 3rd March 2016, Good Morning Britain peaked at 1 million viewers.'

Wasn't it peaking that high even when it was Daybreak and not really working at all?

I'm sure on the run up to and around 8am it's quite normal for the ITV breakfast show to be watched by around 1m.

Whether the averages have actually increased recently I'm not sure, but I wouldn't trust anything that Wikipedia has to say on the matter, especially without a source.

Wishful thinking from Piers Morgan, as of last week they were chugging along at 600,000 - BBC Breakfast 1.5-1.6 million.

Yes, thanks for spotting that! The share was probably around 6%.

When did the BARB website get a makeover? I noticed several channels are listed under old names on the Top 30 page such as UK History, Hallmark, TMF, Artsworld...

Ouch.

Should've stuck with purple Daybreak... At least once that settled down it was getting 0.7/0.8m.

Last week.

The other problem I have with it is it doesn't list channels in alphabetical order in the top 10s section.

They have the A's together, the B's together, etc, but all jumbled up so the +1s are not underneath the parent channel.

It's all a bit untidy at the moment but hopefully they will fix these issues soon enough.

Interesting that the repeat of the new episode being shown in the old BBC3 slot, is rating higher than the actual premiere of the new episode. I think ITV2 are going to have to go with the Sunday slot if they want a bigger headline rating.

#IndianSummers started its second season with 1.3m / 6% http://overnights.tv

Indian Summers fell an awful long way down the ratings during its first series last year. Starting at 1.3m does not bode well for where this 2nd 10 episode series will end up by the end.

Perhaps Romesh, Rachel and Ben should investigate the art of scheduling in "It's Not Rocket Science".

Most of the reviews of Houidini and Doyle thought it was rubbish and several said they are glad it won't be possible to watch episode 2 with not having ITV Encore.

Was in two minds about watching it on catch up but if it takes as many liberties with truth and even the period it is set as the reviews say then won't bother.

Odd idea really to put just one episode on ITV only and the rest on a minority channel that even those accessing it seem not to watch.

Cannot see how that helps anyway and will just frustrate any viewers they might find who did like it and then discover they need to get Sky to watch the rest!

Piers must have done that Wikipedia update. Ratings are still around 100,000 and BBC Breakfast is still around 1.5/1.6m. Piers has brought several things to Good Morning Britain, viewers isn't one of them.

I suspect Indian Summers will not be back for another series after this one. Since the drama competition is only going to get tougher in the coming weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if it slips below 1m

Penn and Teller did good increasing from last week, I wonder if 5 might consider ordering a revival of the original series or even a show with Penn and Teller

Houdini and Doyle was dreadful, Mangan is miscast as Conan Doyle, zero gravitas. Mangan playing Mangan. I have nothing else to add apart from it was awful.

Channel 5 dramas update...

The X-Files (C5, Monday 9pm): 3.17m
Gotham (C5, Monday 10pm): 1.51m
Heroes Reborn (5Star, Tuesday 9pm): 661,000
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (5USA, Tuesday 9pm): 461,000
Shannara Chronicles (5Star, Thursday 9pm): 659,000
NCIS: New Orleans (C5, Friday 9pm): 1.17m
Transporter: The Series (Spike, Friday 9pm): 226,000
NCIS (C5, Friday 10pm): 1.48m

includes +1 and +24 channels where appropriate
this data and more available to all at www.barb.co.uk

Another successful week on the whole as key drama content led the way for all four channels. Main channel at 4.2% in line with this time last year. 5Star's imports still beating their slot averages by more than 200%. 5USA up to 1.1% share and Spike up to 0.37%.

On the negative side, 5USA's latest import Chicago Fire (second run rights, originally shown on Sky Living) launched with fewer than 323,000 in a slot where Castle has been averaging well over half a million. However, the 10pm showing was 5USA+1's most watched programme of the week with 71k. Perhaps in the next few weeks Chicago PD will reclaim its usual Wednesday 9pm slot with Chicago Fire pushed back an hour?
