Full Press Release His Dark Materials. Jack Thorne is adapting it. Does anybody think this will be a mainstream hit?”

It has the same problem the AMC Preacher series does strangely enough. If you tone down the pro atheism message you'll alienate the core fanbase but leaving it in risks getting bogged down in the wrong kind of controversy.

The closest recent genre analogue would be Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell which didn't set the ratings alight (though personally I loved it).....it does of course have part of the original DW production team behind it, now incarnated as Bad Wolf Productions, so they have form in making fantasy acceptable to a mass audience. Might depend on how they skew the tone given that the original novels straddle that nice line between adult and juvenile fiction.

Looks like Drive completely tanked then. Not entirely surprising, these driving formats don't seem to work. The slot probably made it even worse too. ITV's attempts to make Tuesday nights male skewing still not working.

Consistent for EE. I hope it rises when Peggy and Grant come back but for me the quality is consistent and I'm really enjoying the show.

Yeah. Errm. Oops. The fact that this INCLUDES +1 is even worse. It doesn't look like the figure has a high percentage of inquisitive viewers checking it out

It has been consistent of late, I agree. I wonder if the switch of the late night repeat from BBC Three to W has had a slight impact on the live viewing figures. I'm not entirely sure when Peggy and Grant's return will play out - Ross Kemp has returned to filming today, I think - but that suggests May / June transmission of those episodes, so viewing figures won't be that high.

Looks like The A Word has found its 4m or so level, which is respectable.
