I must confess, I've heard the name, but have no idea who he is, either.

I'm intrigued to see what Kate Oates does with Corrie as so much of the show is off limits. They'll never get rid of Antony Cotton for example when he hasn't added anything to the show in years and he's not the only one. The producer who won over the most fans in recent times was Collinson but for me he only masked the show's problems and made no real effort to address or solve them. I can see the same thing happening with Kate Oates. Corrie will have some strong storylines on her watch but I can't see her addressing the rot at the show's core when that would involve getting rid of people who have become far too comfortable there.

As for Emmerdale a drop seemed to occur when the Aaron storyline started... if I am mistaken on that it has at least dipped noticeable over the course of it. It's quite a tough subject to watch and them using it as a vehicle to redeem the 'Robron' relationship which had become unviable due to the lengths they took Robert to was quite sick on top of that.

I don't think that EE has risen significantly in recent weeks but I could be wrong on that. I do know that not so long ago Emmerdale was above or close to the 6m mark and giving it a run for its money (which is not that unusual nowadays on first screenings)... I think Emmerdale's drop must be storyline-related as EE hasn't fallen with it. I suppose people might have a point about Corrie though. I haven't seen it recently but it sounds absolute dog turd even from reading the synopses in RadioTimes.

It just seems a bit more resilient at the moment, and Coronation Street is suffering a bit from the culinary soap on BBC1.

Ray did you manage to find those Victoria Wood ratings? Realise it must take you a while and I'm very impatient!

Thank you so so much for all of these! Quite surprised at how low As Seen on TV rated in its first series. The 1989 series rated very well.

I remember the 1989 series - it was actually 6 x 30 min situation comedies.

Zak / Joanie / Lisa stuff is what is annoying many. It's like Corrie deciding to split up Jack and Vera just for the hell of it! Add on top Paddy affair.

You could speculate that Kate Oates is deliberately attempting to sabotage EM!

Will it be moved to January to replace (take on) The Voice UK?

If it goes to penalties I suspect it'll finish on the cusp of 8pm. Perfect time for immediate channel-hopping over to ITV, surely?

EDIT: And now it's all academic.

This is nothing like a pub. We all have a keen interest in television ratings and therefore would have came across the name on here, considering his rise on X Factor and then presenter of Bit On The Side and bits here and there. You may not know exactly what he did but if i showed you a picture you'd know it was him.

That's my point.

Rylan's late night chat show will depend on content surly, Bit On The Side wasn't really very good really.

Its hard to say after just one rating, and given The Voice is 4 months long its going to take more than the expected length of a McIntyre style show to fill the gap.

There is this Barlow idea floated in the press, but if its the Take That search then its hard to see it being anything more than a one-off. This pre-BGT slot isn't a bad one for Big Show to be honest as ITV don't seem to want to make it all that competitive.
