Looks like a better night for BGT and Corrie. A relief for ITV I guess.

Considering the lack of Eastenders on BBC One, those figures haven't moved up as far as they should have.

Tbh, I think it would have been better if the ratings dropped back again. It would surely give the bosses at ITV a wake up call. Since they have a new creative team in charge, is there any likelyhood Lygo might mix up next years schedule pattern?

This 'big' week for Corrie has been nothing short of a damp squib.

EastEnders only clashed with BGT for half an hour, and didn't clash at all with Corrie or the results. How much were you expecting them to move by?

I'm pleased BGT rose as after a poor show on Sunday it has been good since so deserved to rise.

Agree about Corrie, although I'm hoping the year on year declines seen anyway will be a wake up call.

There is no shadow of doubt that 10 million is a magnificent audience, any show that gets over that (even as a peak audience) is at the high end of audience measurement these days. The auditions clearly are at this level-especially the early ones where its fresh.
The performance shows are following a trend of lessened interest though, the semi -finals have lost some of their pull because casual viewers aren't as invested in who gets churned out at the end.

At least back up to near 8 million figure with very little competition from BBC One.

I may have been assuming, incorrectly, that the clash pulled the average figure for BGT down as people tuned into EE, and then caught up with BGT.

This is very poor for BGT. Without any serious competition at all, it is not engaging the viewers as it did before.

Considering it normally airs in half term week, when many families take a holiday, but currently kids are in school, it's very poor.

Can't even blame the weather, maybe a beard effect?

The A Word recommissioned and a further two series for Peaky Blinders.

But no comedy, impressionists, ventriloquists and so on.

It has lost sight of being a variety show and become both over predictable and too tied into quirky rubbish that one of the judges likes.”

Whilst I would agree for me the standard hasn't been as good this year you could argue that the acts you described are variety acts. I was surprised the impressionist duo didn't get through but the impressionist guy on his own was disappointing (2nd time round), and perhaps there have been no funny comedians this year. I agree there have been too many daft acts put through (to the semis).

Agree that's not much variety but why are you lumping singers/dancers together? These are 2 completely different types of act.

That's still not brilliant for Britain's Got Talent at all. Remember the Sunday episode pulled in over 8m and was facing tougher opposition than yesterday.

I'm sure some are delighted with those figures though - not necessarily for a good reason.

Being in the school holidays will have helped a show like BGT. Families are more likely to commit to it every night across a week if the kids aren't in school. For a start it means they can stay up later but also routines are less fixed and it feels like more of an event. I do think moving away from half term week was a mis-step.

Corrie was very good last night it must be said. I didn't see that sequence of events coming. But this definitely should've aired on Monday at the latest as they've spent too long building up to it and the casual viewers will have given up by now. The Platts deserved to be the main focus of BGT week and tonight's episode should be good now that they are the focus.

But it was only the last 5 minutes were much cop, and even that was created through contrived scenes.

But you tell from the soap forum many Corrie fans are so eager to jump on any drama they can, simply because we've been starved of it for so long under Blackburn.

Hopefully Kate Oates will make Corrie unmissable again. Certainly it needs it. ONe more dud producer and it'l be Corrie's death sentence.

Not surprised the Sunday edition got that figure, but the show in the end was a disappointment with many of the acts being flat. I think the audience has been put off by this and the show has dipped/fallen as a result, though some recovery last night.

BBC1 seems to have run up the white flag tonight with a debate on the EU with a very lightweight presenter (surely a Dimbleby or Neill was required) and a documentary about alcohol consumption but then BBC2 has the Chelsea flower show and Peaky Blinders.

Sorry - but that's hyperbole - for all you're "hating" it - it's still the highest rating soap on tv.

A FACT you continuously choose to ignore everytime you appear & throw your toys out of the pram.

Thursday night is always rubbish - Peaky Blinders is boring and I am sick of all these health documentaries on BBC1.

Corrie is so weak at the moment yet last night was an OK episode.

Makes me frustrated when EastEnders and Emmerdale are far more superior and get less ratings.
