Love island will get zero viewers

...Because it isn't on on Saturdays.

Only half true.

It *is* on, but it's some sort of compilation of the week's highlights, according to the programme description.

It is. At 10pm. It's a highlight of the week episode apparently.

I agree. They could just put something Disney on. That might grab a decent 2m.

People who usually watch it will just catch up after the football or through the week. Why bother taking it off?

ITV happy. England v Slovakia will still be competitive plus a more difficult 2nd round match.

Well ITV are a Business. If England won today and beat Wales and were on 6 points they would have been a million or so less viewers for the Slovakia match.
With the crowd trouble tonight and general politics of it all I wonder what the likelihood of England boycotting the World Cup in Russia.

I'm predicting a 10-12m broadcast average, match average of 14m and a peak of 17m.

It's a shame there is no late night chat/comedy show airing during the Euros. I know they generally were poorly received and were slated, which means rather than having an iffy comedy show we have none instead which is often the case.

I'm surprised a variation of James Corden's World Cup Live hasn't returned. They did that in 2010 but nothing since.

I think its a good result for ITV. Ok BBC get a bit more England centred importance to the Wales game, but the share is going to be more impressive than the audience. ITV best path is a meaning to the Slovakia game and an 8.00 kick off in the round of 16. They need England to finish second or third to get that. Its a tightrope but its all possible.
Worst case scenario for the BBC is the Wales game is the only England match they will get to show in 4 years. That's possible too.

The BBC don't care as much about ratings. The final is never that far off an England match in the ratings sometimes.

True.

I don't know what can be done to stop it. Hopefully, it can be stopped somehow.

If it carries on, might we see some teams banned from Euro 2020?

I really don't want to see football violence overshadowing what has been a fun tournament so far. At this moment in time football hooliganism has been a bigger problem for France than the threat of a terrorist attack!

It's worth noting that the World Cup comes first in a couple of years. To be held in Russia.

I bet everyone's looking forward to that right now.

Yep, ITV would hate England getting thru to the semi final and having exclusive first pick.
Why would they want the biggest TV audience in years and sell advertising at a premium. Best not have that eh.

After a decent start, relatively low ratings all round from Euro 2016? The BBC and ITV probably didn't help each other by both running coverage at the start time - that would have hurt both sets of Home Nation averages.

The opening game always rates higher than other 'all foreign' group matches.

Also the pub watching audience not included will always be higher for weekend home nation games.
