New Blood would probably have been around 2m with no football. Like The Living And The Dead viewers aren't interested in it. Having it on iPlayer first is a convenient to massage the figures, it's just not doing well.

Too be fair about 8-9m people were watching either BBC1 and ITV at the time

It usually holds its own against Emmers, granted it was going to lose viewers with the switch. I just expect a bit more for a show that seemingly has a default 4m audience.

It's such a boring show though, imo obviously

New Blood really deserves a higher rating, I've watched it all through iPlayer and it's pretty good. It's a bit of a different genre, crime crossed with comedy.

Call me thick but in this day and age of digital tv, epg etc i just dont see the logic of switching a tennis match (or anything else) that is already on one channel and scheduled to be on that channel to then switch it to another.

I notice my sky guide though didnt update last night it still had masterchef down as on bbc1 and tennis on bbc2, i wonder if others turned in for masterchef who have sky saw tennis on bbc1 but didnt bother to look through the channels (i did) Was this a problem on freeview or virgin too ?

Storming match average for Wales, a bit more than I thought to be honest. Shows that the nation truly bought into Wales achievement.
Murray saving BBC1 from what would have been a near total rout.

The One Show is a direct alternative to Emmerdale. The One Show is easy watching. If you don't watch soap, then stick on BBC1. It has a loyal 3.5-4m viewers IF its on BBC1.

New Blood and The Living & The Dead are getting undeservedly poor figures. 1.3m for New Blood is particuarly awful. BBC1 is experiencing ITV drama flop ratings.

Will this excercise if putting whole drama series on Iplayer first be repeated now these dramas are dying a death?

The BBC is a ratings obsessed network and will keep Murray on BBC One where possible to maximise ratings, even if this means lots of silly switching back and forth.

The figures BMG got are similar to what Home and Away gets on C5 (and Home and Away doesn't have the likes of Jaycee Dove proclaming it as the 2nd coming). And being beaten by Big Brother despite bring pick of the day? The S1 premiere of BMG pulled in 1.5m!.

Can't see Charlotte Moore keeping it at 10pm -especially as the Newsnight lead-in.

They ditched him to the red button for one of his other matches so that's only really true for late-stage crunch matches.

I think the extent to which they will chase those Murray inflated ratings was exposed in the previous round of the competition on Monday, when news bulletins - the most fundamental part of what the BBC does - were shortened to make way and The One Show shipped off to Two, only for the game to be over by 7pm and leaving them with half an hour to fill.

An absolutely ridiculous sequence of events, that was quite rightly derided by everyone in here at the time.

Don't think it's been picked up on here but The Lion King is finally getting a terrestrial TV outing on Sunday 17th July at 6.30pm on Channel 4. Could be a big rater although it does feel slightly like a waste at this time of year.
