...and if the tennis had involved a certain Djokovic and gone to 5 sets ? Ifs and buts I know, and hard to say, but it could have been mighty close, I think it's fair to say, even without the extra channel covering it.

That said, you could run and run with this. What if the Euro final had been a better game? More chances, more goals, more drama = more viewers?

Neither final was a classic but still did excellently as you would expect. Football is clearly miles ahead of tennis generally whereas tennis is more a once a year thing and entirely dependent on how well a certain player does.

Finally a good scheduling decision from Channel 5 when having to deal with a badly underperforming show, rather then burying it in the middle of the night they are using one of the other channels in their network to continue showing it in a sensible slot.

Puzzled by the early finish for BB and early start for CBB.

Rumour is that Spike will finally be launching on Virgin Media this week, about bloody time if true.

First ad break at 20:50 presumably. So having slowly built, a lot of the viewers watching ITV may suddenly have realised they needn't be watching adverts at all.

Well, unless we count the one for the Olympics the BBC sneaked in.

It's a shame, but it's had every chance on the main channel and unfortunately ratings are a good bit lower than the first few series.

At least they are giving it in an 8 day run up to the 5STAR switch, so hopefully the change is heavily promoted on air during that time to ensure its viewers needn't miss a thing.

I wouldn't be massively surprised if a very healthy percentage of its viewers move across. It has a very passionate fanbase I think that are likely to continue supporting it.

There isn't an 8 day run up to the switch, as they are going straight from Episode 3 tonight on Channel 5 to Episode 4 tomorrow on 5STAR, then next week it continues with Episode 5 on 5STAR.

However I agree that they do stand a good chance of the fanbase following the show over to the new channel, anyone that can watch Channel 5 can watch 5STAR so there isn't really a reason to stop watching.

Well spotted. Marked as a repeat on Digiguide, but then if you take the episode number as correct it can't be a repeat.

They've fudged it again then. An 8 day runup was obviously the way forward. Two episodes in a week is silly and doesn't allow enough time for the change to be publicised.

Also disappointed to see them doing another live debate on Monday (on Brexit aftermath). When will C4 and C5 learn that this "format" simply does not work with as many rentagobs and politicians as you can get in the same room shouting over one another whilst the presenter struggles to get a word in edgeways!

Also, what if the Euro final had been on at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and the tennis had been on in peak viewing?

And the tennis clashed with the British Grand Prix which, across two channels, must have had a peak audience of over 3m.

They've moved Wimbledon fortnight next year a week further into the calendar - to give players more rest between the French Open and Wimbledon - and the men's final will be on 16 July 2017. I suspect that means no clash with it and the British GP (although that date is yet to be confirmed, it's likely to be this same weekend next year). If Murray is back in contention in next year's final, there shouldn't be any conflicting sporting events that take away from the potential audience. Also, no major football tournament - although I don't think that directly affected the viewing figures.

At least the HD version will probably be on catchup like it is for The Magicians which you have to go that route to watch in HD.

That's because F1 clashed with Wimbeldon, D.M.N on Twitter is saying that it peaked with 5m on both channels so that's very good considering it clashed with Wimbledon, in fact it was a season high so another thumbs up for them. Looks F1 is recovering after a pretty bad first half to the season.

I wasn't aware they were moving Wimbledon a week later again.

For those not keeping track, last year they moved it a week later so instead of the final being the first weekend in July, it was the second. Now next year it will be entirely in July with the final the third weekend.

Not entirely sure I approve and from a ratings point of view, they are likely to be lower the further into July you go. They will clash less with summer football tournament though, particularly the busier early stages.

Won't it clash with The Open golf tournament? Not that the golf will make much difference to the ratings.
