Witless Whittingdale has been sacked as the Culture Secretary. I'm sure many will be thrilled on here

Now to wait for his successor...

ITV seem to be having a good summer. The soaps are staying at about the same figure.

Brief Encounters is doing well for a Summer drama. Is this the first ITV summer drama since Single Handed which was a co production with rte. As I dont remember one last summer.

Also Long Lost Families has returned at a good level as well. Its nice to see them doing well also the football the last few weeks was good too.

I take there will be a ratings drop during the olympics

Wonder how Loose Woman Denise did at 10pm last night? Can't see it lasting in that timeslot and if C5 can shuttle off Wentworth, this can happen.

If the figures are worse, I'm surprised there's no Newsnight special on the end of The 1975 love affair.

Why doesn't the Top 10 include the BBC News at Ten which according to BARB had 4.77 million and would have been fourth ? Also strong figures there for the BBC News channel.

Yes, thanks for noticing the omission. I have amended it.

Great ratings for Long Lost Family and Containment.

BB rising I would suggest was more to do with the favourite to win the competition being evicted in the most dramatic of circumstances than anything else. When you put it in that context, it's only an okay rating.

Anyone know the rating for Wentworths episode on 5star on Tues?

I think love island ending is helping the ratings as well. This series has still rated higher than last year as a whole

I wonder if we might see a U-turn on the issue of ''free'' TV licences ?

Well ~1.4m is not bad at 10pm. Matches the sort of ratings the highest rated normal series got 3 years back. It was probably the best episode in a few years (and I hated this week before last night). The forums and social media exploded with buzz last night. I wonder if tonight can keep it or even rise to 1.5m.

Deserved to. It was awful, patronising, totally uninformed, misleading rubbish.

But aside from that it was okay if you liked pictures of trains that all looked the same day after day.

Lazy phoned in production.

I'm guessing nothing for BB on Broadcast as it was on at 10pm then, which is annoying!

That's a good rating and is well deserved, it was the best episode of the series so far.

Take it Peter Snow beat Denise Welch then?

The tabloids aren't running with the bile on BMG like they did to Chris Evans. Is it because they don't want to hurt Rebecca Root and Matthew Healy?
Those 2 put themselves in the public eye too.

Why is the celebrity big brother summer series launching so early? Last year it didn't launch until the end of August.

Not sure why you appear to have a problem with this show. It is amiable enough. Not great and probably not doing enough for a third series. But there have been far worse 'comedies' on TV.

This is not terribly funny but has likeable characters.

Big Brother had 1.36m (8.0%) including +1 last night.

It had a 33% 16-34 skew. Up on the standard 26-28% skew it was getting prior to Love Island ending.

Excellent start for Containment. 783k inc +1 according to ITV Media. A very decent start. Not surprising though. I feel like E4 have been plugging it for ages. I can see it hitting 1.2/1.3m in the consolidated numbers. Hollyoaks deserved a better number for it's first look episode last night. 540k inc +1, as per ITV Media again. I watch at C4 pace and it was a brilliant episode.

Shades of Blue started with an okay number. I can see that consolidating very well too. It was actually pretty decent. Better than I was expecting. I can see it been a solid hit for Sky Living. Probably consolidate to around 700-800k.

The 15th series of Hell's Kitchen started well. It normally gathers momentum as the run progresses with numbers increasing. It's pretty much the same every series - but it's addictive TV, especially with Gordon Ramsay at the helm. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
