ITV's new current affairs show Peston on Sunday will launch in April but it won't be scheduled against the BBC's Andrew Marr Show - The Times

I can't really see Peston doing that well on ITV. The channel isn't known for it's in-depth news reporting on a Sunday. It will more likely confuse viewers who are looking for Jeremy Kyle or those half asleep students and pensioners expecting Murder She Wrote.

By the time Peston actually finishes a sentence ITV will be going to a commercial break..

The Sunday show was part of the deal to get him to join ITV News as their political editor.I suspect it will have one series then quietly disappear.

Perhaps they are trying to recreate Weekend World. Unfortunately the Matthew Paris version and not Brian Walden.

I have been trying to find ratings for Beowulf after the first episode. Just read a Guardian article which said it cost 29000 pounds a minute to make and how they just managed to stick mud on their faces and a mask of gollum on a dummy. If it is doing so badly I can't see them honouring this 5 year contracts the actors are on.

He's going to struggle to get guests - you have Marr at 9 am on BBC1 and Andrew Neil at 1100 with Murnaghan on Sky.Most MPs and ministers are going to go for the BBC shows and a few for Sky, he'll be left with those who haven't been invited on to the major shows.

My guess is it will be somewhere within in the 10am - 2pm sandwich. Perhaps it will be up against The Sunday Politics or, if not, over-lapping with the last few minutes of The Sunday Politics, so 12-1pm or 1-2pm (where The Sunday Politics' predecessor, On the Record, used to be). I can't see it being in a tea time slot or Sunday late night slot. But I could be wrong.

ITV have been trying to find some ratings for it as well. They have had a look down the back of the sofa but no luck so far !!

From Hassaan

BBC One
Six Nations Rugby: 6.30m (34.0%)
The Voice UK: 6.59m (31.5%)
Win Your Wish List: 4.29m (21.3%)
Casualty: 5.12m (26.5%)
BBC News: 4.60m (26.7%)

ITV (inc +1)
Ninja Warrior UK: 4.31m (21.1%)
Take Me Out: 3.69m (17.8%)
Jonathan Ross: 2.21m (11.7%)
Score

So despite getting a big Six Nations lead-in (which has normally added a few hundred thousand to it) The Voice dropped week on week, whilst Ninja Warrior rose slightly despite a 45 minute Voice overlap. Very surprising numbers there.

Thanks Hassaan and lewi

Gre rating for the Rugby and share. But TVUK is down on last week despite the bigger lead in, and down 2.1m on last year

That's a good rating for Casualty, up over 300k YOY I believe

Ninja Warrior held up better than I thought it would, escpecially with a full on clash with TVUK.

Jonathon Ross still dire.

Is starting to look like a complete balls up ITV buying TVUK now. Hube drops YOY, and likely to get another 1m drop on ITV.

Either that or its the coaches that are putting some older viewers off.

Wasn't the news on before The Voice ? Did that have an effect on the ratings slightly.

Still the highest rated programme on Saturday, so I am sure the sabotaged series of The Voice is still doing ok.

Doubt it. How many MPs in total are guests on those three shows each week, against how many prominent MPs there are, especially with the larger number of parties there are these days.

In any given week MPs appear on all manner of low rating shows, it doesn't matter to them, as as long as you get in a good sound bite in, you subsequently get heard on all the day's news programmes as well.

The success for this Peston show, will be the first time the BBC News on Sunday evening uses a clip in their bulletin. No doubt this will happen on the first show as I wouldn't be surprised if they arranged the PM to appear.

That is a factor but I think I read on Broadcast that the number of 16-24s watching is also down YOY, so it goes a bit deeper.
The new coaches are very unpopular plus people just don't like The Voice.

Even 5.59m is still a decent sized programme to have in ITV's portfolio. Not TXF/BGT sized, but still significant compared to other Saturday night shows.

Depends what the benchmark of success is. If it airs this time next year, it should be against what ITV are currently rating, but no doubt here it will be against the shows highest ever rating.

Best time slot would be 1pm in my opinion. Never quite understood why BBC1's show moved out of this slot and became an hour earlier a couple of years ago, go back a decade or so and you had both BBC1 and ITV with lunchtime politics shows, and now you have neither at that time.

I hope ITV starts a fresh with 4 new coaches. As this years coaches arent working as well this year. I can see why the BBC have stuck with Will.i.am but I feel as he has been there longest he feels he can tell the others who to turn for.

Hopefully ITV have a contract clause which allows them to escape from showing all these series and versions of the Voice. It has been a ratings disaster this year.

Paloma Faith's voice is enough for me to switch The Voice off. Apologies to her fans.

I really dislike the padding on The Voice. I know it's always been there but it seems more pronounced this year. I especially don't like the way they read into the smallest little things a judge(s) does or doesn't do. Paloma hasn't turned around for someone so far on the show? I know, let's have a pointless 5 minute VT reflecting on this significant point. Boring and futile.
