ITV give a bit cof competition to TVUK and it struggles to get anywhere near the highs of last year. You can see from the breakdown, TVUk jumps over 700k when NWUK finishes at 8pm.

Does highlight how much TVUK was getting a default audience for last years series up against ITV flops. This year it dropped back down to earth.

ITV have actually got a show that does well against a BBC1 big hitter. Does NWUK skews male?

Or it could also be that ITV are showing something that viewers want to watch. The combined audience across BBC and ITV is still the same as it has been for the last couple of years in January/February, but The Voice had an easy run and became default viewing in 2014 and 2015 against Splash and Stars in their Eyes. It could just mean that percentage wise, the live shows won't appear to fall so much when Ant & Dec returns.

This was proven in 2013 where it got similar numbers to this year in its spring slot against BGT. It isn't appointment viewing but if ITV schedule it properly, it should do OK. I don't think they would ever expect it to become the next BGT or X Factor.

BBC Two had a great night. Another 1.4m on top of 3.1m for Marigold Hotel brings it up closer to 5m. Add in timeshift and it'll be over 5.5m. Great series.

Ch5 is just struggling on Saturday massively without CBB. 2% share awful, probably less that ITV2.

Well unlike BGT and TXF, TVUK should not dominate the day. I've said this before, but it should be used a lead in to other programmes and dramas. Sunday is the perfect day.

The Voice down 24% which is a disaster. Partly down to the tougher competition but it shouldn't make that much difference. Win Your Wish List down 18% but a chunk of that will be down to the drop in lead-in.

On ITV Take Me Out was up 10% and Ninja Warrior was up 77% on Stars in Their Eyes last year. Ross was down 12% though.

Indeed, a classic. ITV and BBC1 schedule was full of LE which was of no interest to me. Saturday TV in the early part of the year is pretty awful. The only LE show I enjoy is BGT.

Infact BBC2 and C5 were the best channels last night with a good balance of programmes.

The BBC can't be accused of sabotage: they're still giving it good slots rather than sneaking it out at teatime as some of our more partisan posters were urging.

Well yes. I doubt the BBC care much. They're probably more disappointed with Getaway Car. No they've not sabotaged it, although all the stuff we're seeing was filmed before ITV poached it. Slots have been good. Promotion was decent if not as extensive as previously (but you can hardly blame them).

ITV won't be happy and my optimism for it next year is evaporating. A couple of months ago I'd have said give it a plum Saturday slot. Now I'm thinking they should just leave Ninja Warrior there and run The Voice on Sundays 6.30-8pm into the 2 hour dramas. It could expand to 2 hours (7-9pm) once the 2 hour dramas (and Midwife) are done.

Strange looking at these figures knowing The Voice is no longer to be a fixture on BBC1. I don't think Paloma and Boy George have hit it off with the BBC audience and they are surely one season wonders (unless BG would hit it off better on a more combative ITV atmosphere for the show). ITV are stronger and the bad press over the sacking of Tom Jones hasn't helped either. Big story for this thread when TVUK starts next year.
BBC1 looks stronger without Getaway Car which isn't any answer to the loss of TVUK. Great peak for Six Nations and once again the interest will be how it performs on ITV who have unexpectedly had part of the pie thrust at them. Pretty good for Wishlist and 5 always looks better than 4 for Casualty.

I doubt it? Its a shame because they had some decent stuff. World war II in colour, American's Hidden Pyramid City, football and then Law and Order. The fact viewers didn't flock to the channel says more about those viewers who watch LE pap. C5 should be applauded for offering something different to the main channels. C5 have really uped their game recently and should be commended.

The day after CBB ends and C5 is down to a 2% share in peak. Talk about back to reality with a bump!

There's seemingly nothing they can do about Football League Tonight but popular family movies should be drafted in to fill the couple of hours beforehand ASAP. Same week factual repeats are not going to cut it there, and the figures are becoming humiliating.

I think ITV will give it the full treatment, revitalise it with probably a clean sweep of new coaches and a change in atmosphere. It should create a new feeling and there will be quite an interest I would have thought at the start -its just maintaining it for the auditions at least. Im very doubtful the BBC will be finding anything bar the usual suspects for quarter 1 next year and so for me Saturday is the day-far easier competition than the very strong Sunday schedule the BBC has thrown out in recent years.

I saught solace in "alternative viewing" last night and watched the Swedish Eurovision selection show MelodiFestivalen. I just gave up on TV last night. I think TVUK has sort of come to a natural end. I think the reason why I have turned off is that the whole saga over the 2017 series has left a bad taste in my mouth and has tarnished the show for me.

It did make me laugh that Melodifestivalen was actually trending higher on Twitter in the UK than The Voice

The equivalent teatime match was France v Scotland last year rather than Scotland v England, but yes it's still a great rating.

Yeah, I watched Melfest Live and TV UK on catch up as it's totally disappointing me this year although the last two weeks have seen a marginal improvement with some decent acts. I think Next year (depending on how Eurovision: You Decide pans out this year on BBC Four) we might see a selection show on One coupled with something like Let's Dance (Or Bringing back Comic Relief Fame Academy might be good) This year has proved TV UK isn't an unfallible hit like the big hitters so it's worth trying to compete with it

I wonder if BBC want to revisit So You Think You Can Dance. It looks like it might get cancelled in America as the next series will be an 8-13 yeah old dancer series, which nobody as an interest in. So if it gets canned there and American Idol ends then Nigel might be tempted to return to UK shores.
