That's why. On a Saturday night people don't want hard dramas. They want people you can laugh at.
Don't agree with that at all.

A lot of people are turning off the rubbish LE shows on every Saturday night and watching quality boxsets and movies on Netflix/SkyGo/Amazon Prime/DVD instead. If a quality drama was on a Saturday night, I'm talking Happy Valley/Broadchurch standard, do you think people wouldn't watch simply because it's a Saturday?

Saturday night television is really poor at the moment.

I disagree. they watch it because it's there, like the last bit of pizza in the box, you don't need to eat it, you don't really want it, but you eat it because it's there.

There is room for quality Le family shows like BGT and SCD, but having a decent drama on a saturday in primetime would be just the ticket.

So much for Voice having dropped because of the later starts. It did no better with its regular Six Nations weekend start time of 7.15pm.

Indeed, I thought it might have nudged past 7 million again last night what with the lead-in, but clearly not. It could go really quite low when Takeaway comes along.

I know you lot disagree but ITV is always stuck in its ways on Saturday. Take out entertainment shows, talent and reality, I cent remember a Saturday drama that was successful.

I just think it will always be like that. Sunday can have the dramas. They are stuck in the Gladiators and Blind Date era. Ninja Warrior and TMO are pretty much exactly those shows with a 21st Century audience. Whether people think they are awful, they seem to be working.

I'm wondering whether BBC One is planning to show it on Sunday 21st rather than Saturday 20th. The provisional schedule for Sunday is all over the shop, with no Midwife.

Does CTM finish next week then? If so, that's a short series.

Haha brilliant ITV might be stuck with two talent shows rating at 6 million! Superb! Still at least they'll be producing one of them which is key to their all round picture. Cowell's lucky he has BGT to bargain with otherwise XF would likely be gone no questions asked.

No, there are still three more episodes after next Sunday, but it isn't in the provisional schedule for the 21st.

Have to disagree on Blind Date I'm afraid Salv. I found it fun, funny, with a certain amount of charm and the most perfect host. I can't say any of these about TMO, indeed I find it quite cold despite all the ridiculousness of it. Never saw Gladiators but I imagine that would be the same situation.

But what meant is that TMO is suited for the audience nowadays. It is the same programme but like I said, suited to a different generation, despite like you said thst you find TMO cold and Blind Date funny. They are both incredibly cheesy. Watching back old episodes, the phrases people used were even cringier then TMO.

I'd be fascinated to see how many Brits watch Melodifestivalen. I wonder if it would do well on BBC Four.

A UK version to replace The Voice would be amazing, but they would probably struggle to get enough decent songs to make it worthwhile.

But TMO has an arrogant over confident host and the people are on there just to be on TV. Whereas Blind Date had a warm and likeable host and you got the feeling people were on there not just to be on TV and the show didn't take itself too seriously.

Can Saturday Night Takeaway stop the decline this year? Depends if they roll out the same guests and keep the second rate ones like last year.

They have a feature called "Who shot Simon Cowell" apparently, I'm not sure if it will mirror a real life situation or not

Excellent for the rugby last night - the Calcutta Cup match was always going to get he BBC off to a great start for this years tournament. It'll be fascinating to see how Ireland v Wales did for ITV today.

The Voice is a slightly strange one. None of the changes they've made did look particularly appealing, but for the first time the impact seems very pronounced on ratings. i guess it'll only enhance the desire for a complete reboot on ITV next year - but if what's really dragging it down is singing show fatigue, then no amount of relaunches will help it. It does strike me that such an extensive deal (and one that includes Voice Kids) is looking like a shakier bet than it seemed a few months back.

BBC should bring back the generation game with either Miranda or Michael McIntyre to replace the voice next year.
I almost want them to bring back the Generation Game - just so it cam bomb horribly, and then finally people will stop suggesting bringing back the Generation Game. Seriously, it's sounds like it's been piloted a number of times, with different hosts, and always faded away before it's made it to screen. I don't doubt that will be for a reason!

Hopefully now that people are finally switching off The Voice in their droves they'll see SNT as a great alternative until April.
But I agree they need to stop using ITV guests all the time.

Here's what I have for the equivalent week last year:

Coronation Street:
Mon (19.30): 9.59m (inc +1: 9.72m)
Mon (20.30): 9.50m (inc +1: 9.67m)
Wed: 9.07m (inc +1: 9.50m)
Fri (19.30): 9.07m
Fri (20.30): 8.20m

This was the week of the mini bus crash.

Emmerdale:
Mon: 7.37m
Tue: 6.80m (inc +1: 7.23m)
Thu (20.00): 6.96m

That's all I have due to issues with the way BARB report HD & +1 for ITV.

Moving forward though, I should be getting all the ITV soap officials that include HD & +1.

Have you ever watched TMO? The last thing it does is take itself too seriously. Your opinion on the host is exactly that. An opinion. I think Paddy is great on that show.

Re the voice ok its down 2m but 6.5m is not be sniffed at and its currently the most watched show on Saturday night tv.

Im sure itv woukd of liked to of taken over a show with 8m+ viewers but 6.5m is over 50% more than there current most watched Saturday night show ninja warrior.

But these singing shows are obviously becoming less and less popular with viewers, as we saw with the last series of xfactor.
