Celebrity Big Brother consolidated at 3.13m for The One Where Housemates Thought David Gest Had Died. A further 53,000 caught up the next day on MTV.

Lip Sync Battle UK stayed strong at around 2.5m for Keegan v Manford.

And the ratings were ten days old as well, of course. The ratings column in the Radio Times used to do me fine in the nineties, because I only knew of one newsagent that sold Broadcast, in Chester, so I would only be able to get a copy if I was there. Another world!

I'm not being funny but you've made your point with your hatred of The Voice. I hate it too (and every other singing show as they are dull as dishwater to me) but does it warrant all of this? Sorry for speaking out of turn.

The 6.30-8pm slot on a Sunday is becoming a real problem for ITV. In 2015 they had real problems there. It'll be interesting to see what happens if The Voice goes there, given that The Voice is having a bit of a nightmare itself right now.

It is a bit much. Fair enough to highlight the number but something a bit more than "LOL" would make it seem a bit more insightful.

That is a really poor consolidated number for it though. Lower than anything X Factor did last year and down a whopping 2.44m on the same episode last year which got 9.47m (a 26% decline). ITV must be concerned.

Yes I do agree, that's what I was trying to get at.

But yes The Voice is doing very badly this year. Barring a few editions last year it timeshifted over 1m. I think it down to viewer fatigue with these sort of shows, the panel (I like Paloma as an artist but not as a judge), the ridiculous padding, as well as fair competition from Ninja Warrior (it faced Stars in Their Eyes last year which was a major flop). Hey ho, it's ITV's problem next year.

Why should ITV be concerned when you keep telling us ITV will do it so much better?

ITV probably will do a better job of the format simply because, having watched it on Saturday, it would be quite difficult to do a worse job!

Perhaps she is, she's bloody awful on it. I do think there's some element of fatigue with the whole genre. Although neither The Voice nor The X Factor brands are particularly strong right now which can't help.

I'd say Beowulf is worse. Although admittedly I only watched the first episode, it might have improved (I doubt it) but I have no inclination to find out. I've actually watched all 3 episodes of Jericho so far which is further than I got with Beowulf or Jekyll so it's doing something right. I quite like it actually, I see what you mean but I'm enjoying it which is more than can be said for some of the other stuff. Not that I expect it to return.

From the officials on BARB:

After foolishly putting it up against Gotham on Channel 5, From Dusk Till Dawn on Spike plumented from 272k/267k to 153k. Shame.

Transporter faired better, going from 191k to 186k, decent retention.

Gotham managed it into Channel 5's top 10 at 1.54m plus 280k on +1 and 45k on +24 which is okay.

Yes probably a combination of factors. Also I think for BBC1 7pm maybe works better than 7.45pm. The Getaway Car probably isn't helping matters. I do think fatigue is playing a part here, but the show itself being so poor can't be helping.

On the one hand BBC1 will be glad to be rid of it if it is causing them problems. On the other hand they might struggle to replace it with a show that can do 6.5m across so many hours and it is still comfortably the biggest show on Saturdays for them right now and Getaway Car and Casualty would be lower without it.

I think it can do a job for ITV but I'm increasingly thinking it isn't worth ripping up the Saturday schedule for. Ninja Warrior, Saturday Night Takeaway and Take Me Out do/are doing fine and it wouldn't be good for any of them to be moved to less desirable slots to make room for The Voice if The Voice bombs.

I think they should use The Voice on Sundays either 6.30-8pm or 7-9pm, a slot they have been struggling anyway so even if it plummets all the way down to 4m (which still seems quite pessimistic) it would be a vast improvement. Particularly if it can get a decent number of 16-34s in (presumably it would skew younger facing Countryfile/Open All Hours than it does facing Take Me Out). Could give dramas a decent lead-in too. That way their Sundays would improve and they keep a decent Saturday schedule. I'd be tempted to juggle Saturdays around to create a slot for a new 60 minute entertainment show that isn't The Voice as well to strengthen the evening (9.15 is too early for Ross).

Which night would you put X-Files if you were the C5 scheduler?

I'm thinking probably Tuesdays based on what the other channels are doing.

My point is that ITV isn't currently affording the same kind of generosity with recommissions towards non-ITV Studios suppliers, who are kept waiting right up until the last minute to know if they have series returning. And yet the ITV Studios shows are the ones under performing …

I didn't think i''d ever become a fan but i'm really enjoying it and provides an excellent 'breathing space' between the CBB live shows.
