Eesh, Really Poor Consolidated figure by its standards (well in the grand scheme of thing 7m+ is very good but unless it holds its audience better there''s going to be some nightmare figures for it later on) ITV have a massive contract for it as well, not looking like the wisest of moves v expense for it and it looks like the singing show format is soon to be a thing of the past
As for last night, BBC One knocked it out of the park, Attenborough I'm amazed by but with a title like that it does hook casual intereat and i would appeal to the Country file people who turned up late too with War and Peace remaining steady as well an excellent night for them. ITV can take that their Sunday line up isn't doing too badly (sans beowulf) and isn't as terrible as Get Your Act Together last year
It's interesting how some posters have suggested that Sunday night is the new Saturday night, and now you have have mentioned it, it seems obvious that that's what has happened. Or......................is it?
Maybe people just want more on a Saturday night than light entertainment. Maybe, just maybe, viewers feel patronised by broadcasters assuming that's all we want to watch on Saturdays. Casualty can suggest that it isn't! Perhaps if a broadcaster started mixing things up a bit, results on a Saturday may start bringing home the goodies!
For instance, The Getaway Car could easily be shown on Wednesday nights at 8.00pm. The Sport Relief Bake Off Show could have gone on Saturdays without much fuss. They could also air Dickensian on Saturdays and Sundays - especially now Still Open All Hours has ended. Maybe a Saturday edition of EastEnders for a few weeks with Shetland airing on Saturday nights and The Voice from 8.30pm until 10pm on Fridays. Just to spice things up and try out new schedules. Perhaps January Saturdays could have looked like this:
6.15pm The Great Sport Relief Bake Off
7.15 Dickensian
7.45 The National Lottery Stars (Entertainment show)
8.15 Casualty
9.05 Shetland
Then when Dickensian ends you could just replace it with a limited Saturday night EastEnders or a sitcom.
I just get the feeling that viewers are tiring with yet another daft light entertainment format when in reality they may just want a line up of varied, quality programming. Why not use successful daytime formats to get a Saturday night airing? Shows like Father Brown or For What It's Worth could be good for an early evening curtain raiser. I just think that if schedules were just mixed up a bit, telly would start getting interesting again.

The stabbing in the first episode along with the hero sinisterly stepping on a child were huge mistakes in episode 1 of Jekyll and Hyde for me.

I agree that maybe The Voice should air on Sunday's next year.
Looking at the current ITV Saturday schedule, it could probably run without change again next year, and will probably do as well, if not better with no The Voice on BBC1 against it. The only weak point is probably Ross starting too early that they could try and resolve.

Not sure. Viewers don't seem to want Saturday night LE, but I bet if the schedule on Saturday as filled with Sunday to Friday style programming, they'd find the scheduling odd, and not take to that either.
That rating for Open All Hours is ridiculous. I can see why it does well, but in the context of other comedies on air thesedays, it does stand out.

Cannot stand Attenborough. Especially with his fabricated footage.
Really impressed with those ratings for Giant Dinosaur and Still Open All Hours.
Looks as though Cowell is ramping up the publicity for the new series of Talent. Not sure if now is the right time, or whether it would be better to have a quiet January and February, just in case fans are still a bit jaded after Factor.
I would imagine Voice's ratings will drop quite a bit more from episode eight onwards, so that'd probably be a better time to put the boot in, otherwise it's going to sound quite repetitive by then.

It's because they're filming the auditions for it at the moment (they do them now so they're all done in the next couple of weeks so Ant & Dec are free to do Takeaway) and they always have one day where they do a red carpet event for the press to interview the judges and hosts. They do it every year but it seems Cowell's comments have meant it has got a little more attention than normal.

I did observe last night that Attenborough And The Giant Dinosaur was in a slot normally occupied by a programme currently getting over 7m viewers per week and that quite a lot of CountryFile viewers would also like Attenborough.
Also, he possibly attracted quite a few younger viewers who love dinosaurs but are not so fond of country pursuits.
And while CountryFile time-shifts hardly anything, Dinosaur is the sort of programme that could well time-shift a million or more.

Call The Midwife is being reigned in a little bit by the drama clash but it's ITV that are losing out most. The high +1 rating for Endeavour indicates the high audience overlap between the two shows. It'll be interesting to see how Vera fares next week as I have the impression she's a bit more popular than Endeavour.
War And Peace -steady as she goes. A solid ratings hit. I wonder if BBC1 will commission a second series.

I don't mean to be rude but, why are you so obsessed with the BBC? I like the beeb and its programming, but you seem to live, breathe and sleep the BBC. It is slightly odd.

The Voice coaches (and contestants!) slam Simon and his shows every year, churning out the same Anti-Syco PR campaign as it's the only thing they know how to do, so I think he has every right to answer a few questions journalists put to him at a press event.

Fantastic rating for Attenborough, helped again by ITV's lack of appeal as BBC1 have taken advantage over the last 2 years.
Can anyone actually explain to me, why SOAH is getting 7m+ when its nothing but a comedy living off the orginal series?
