It depends what you're looking for, it's a comedy episode that just rubbed me the wrong way. Folk complained about Jose Chung's From Outer Space back in the day, but it's much better than 2016's episode 3.

The DS article about the consolidated X-Files rating for episode 1 also includes this:

"Elsewhere, Heroes Reborn began on 5*, airing to 341,000 viewers (1.6%). It is 5*'s highest-rated new drama since 2011's Alphas."

Not seen that reported anywhere else today unless I've missed something. Good start though for Heroes Reborn and should consolidate well. But where did DS get this number from? Have the still got ratings access but not doing the roundups anymore?

I know the other week when they reported The X Files first overnight rating, Dancc suggested the same. All seems a little strange.

Well this is presumably part of the upcoming "landmark sitcom season"(celebrating the 60th anniversary of "Hancock" moving to television. I must admit Im quite looking forward to it. Fascinating to see who is cast and how they interpret the characters.

Good point.

Yes, I'm more curious rather than looking forward to it. There is just main problem that I may struggle to overcome. The characters are just way too iconic. Mollie Sugden is Mrs. Slocombe. And Mr. Humphries being played by anyone other than John Inman is going to be hard to accept. Rarely in the history of sitcom has so many characters been played by actors that were so well suited to the roles that they became the characters they played.

I think what is meant is, although ED is the better soap at present no question, EE has always had the bigger pulling power whether good, bad or indifferent and for many a year it was CS and EE who were the big hitters and when you pick up soap mags or newspapers if there are big soap scoops or articles, 9/10 it will be EE and CS and not ED. For some reason we expect more from EE but are pleased when ED is firing on all cylinders and doing well. It was nice to see ED win the Best Soap at the Broadcast Awards. The other awards coming up will be interesting.

Yes I am looking forward to this also.

A continuation? Hmm could be interesting.”

Twin Peaks was a hugely hyped mainstream show in 1990. If I recall correctly the pilot was the most watched programme ever on BBC2, it had 8.15 million. I would assume it dropped like a rock during season 2 though, and it also had the problem that the then version of ofcom- broadcast standards council- upheld complaints about the scene where Maddy is murdered and told BBC2 not to show it again.

Source for the rating

(I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Whitehouse watched Twin Peaks 2.7!)

Depending on how this weekend goes, TVUK could be lookking at some horrible figures for the Live shows being 2hrs long. It'll probably be around 5m against Takeaway and the rise a bit in the 30minutes Takeaway's off air.

Fascinating times ahead with all of the big three getting new producers.

Surprised, I always got the impression he would be the exception to the traditional 'two or three years' rule and be at the show for longer.

DIY SOS will do well tonight. Perfect matching with Bake-Off. I suspect Midsomer will be down under 5m.

Can I just point out that Tipping Point is boosting The Chase and as H Of De Vil and others have said for ages, ITV should never have stopped pairing them up. It works.

So they're replacing him with the man who killed Family Affairs..... I thought the BBC had to do things that were in the interest of the public..... Someone's been hired in senior management who doesn't like soaps......

Channel 5 has arrived people. Big ratings are coming in more often now.

Yep BBC3 still broadcasting full programs on Freeview too. I think it's just a temporary transition period though. Not sure how long it will last. My EPG has the night time broadcasts going on for the forseeable, as far it loads up listings.

Decent lineup of celebs for Bear Grylls: Mission Survive:

Neil Morrisey
Michelle Collins
Jason Gardiner
Samantha Barks
Stuart Pearce
Alex Scott
Chelsea Healey

Be interesting to see how this does in a new slot. Doesn't have much competition but the lead-in is crap and it didn't do all that well last time, although it did skew quite young.

If they didn't broadcast enough programming they would lose the Sky EPG slot and one of the " conditions" for the move online was that they have to show the on-screen messages about the move online (which doesn't count as programming).

Thanks for providing my early morning laugh - Took them 19 years did it? One swallow does not a summer make.

We'll gloss over the massive drop for ep2 of X Files shall we?

Ch5 should have adopted the same scheduling as Fox in America. The first two episodes should have been on consecutive nights, the retention between eps 1 and 2 may have been better.

Of course the consolidated figures will show a different picture.
