I agree , I almost watched last series out of habit but the last few this year have been genuinely funny. Hope it's back again with the same writers.

I agree, I feel sorry for Grimmy and Flack being the scapegoats for a majorly flawed show that died on its legs. To be honest it's good they got out when they can , rather than have their careers tarnished more when XF hits four million or less.

Oh what a surprise to see you pop up when XF is mentioned. You must really love the show.

I wonder if with Harper Lee death any channel will show to Kill a mockingbird soon?

By the way This Morning today announced that Denise Robertson has pancreatic cancer - that has claimed so many celebs recently.

They had thousands of messages of support by the end of the show.

She has been a very popular presenter on there since the show started. I first met her on the show at Albert Dock nearly 30 years ago.

Hope they have caught it early.

Rylan has been presenting the show all week with Ruth (Eammon having had his hips replaced and it being half term which Phil and Holly take off). He has done surprisingly well.

Curious to think how a novelty X Factor act has become more of a TV star than most of the winners.

No, you love the show, I do not.

PS

Nicks git a better gig tonight, hosting The One Show.

Rylan's personality suits the This Morning format and he's proved with BBBOTS that he's a capable presenter. He's not the first reality star to have made the transition to presenting, Sam and Mark who were on Pop Idol both became successful kids TV presenters and Alison Hammond has been on This Morning for years was on Big Brother.

My guess is he will want to be involved in the planning of the denouement of his interminable Lucy / Bobby saga, which can't really be concluded properly until Jake Wood (Max) returns from his sabbatical in the autumn. I imagine, therefore, that Sean O'Connor's work won't be seen on screen until the latter part of autumn / Christmas.”

Thanks for clarifying.

There's no point in worrying about Factor. Whatever the combination of presenters and/or panel members, the series will post yet another year-on-year drop.

Oh of course it will. But the extent of the decline year on year has varied wildly (overnight decline followed by consolidated in brackets).

2012: Down 20% (19%)
2013: Down 3% (2%)
2014: Down 8% (8%)
2015: Down 13% (10%)

A decline like 2012 could see the end of the show whereas one like 2013 would be pretty insignificant and probably secure a renewal.

Emergency Ward 10 was shown on Friday, not Thursday.

When it became a weekly show in 1966, it was shown on Thursdays in some ITV regions.

No.

Were no BBC programmes popular or are these TAM charts just of ITV channels?

Viewer share in ITV homes split well into ITV's favour - sometimes as much as 80%. In 1958 though there were still a fair number of BBC-only homes, which TAM weren't interested in and didn't count..

I expect it'll get recommissioned on some scale, even though the ratings won't be pretty.

The BBC did their own audience research in those days and - not surprisingly - came up with different figures.

Another singing show on top of the ones we've already got, just what we need.

Seriously they should consider doing something different. I can't see a new talent show anchored by Gary Barlow being the next big thing. He was pretty poor on X Factor and I imagine a talent show produced by him would take itself quite seriously.
