Excellent return for Gogglebox, no sign of it running out of steam. Shetland still doing well too.

The Last Leg arguably as impressive as Gogglebox - 1.62m / 10.4% share.

It's been great to watch this one grow into one of C4's biggest hits from a moderate enough start.

Definitely one of my favourite ratings stories of the past couple of years.

Agreed. They are on a downward spiral with nothing to stop it. We don't need another.

Seriously they should consider doing something different. I can't see a new talent show anchored by Gary Barlow being the next big thing. He was pretty poor on X Factor and I imagine a talent show produced by him would take itself quite seriously.”

If its Barlow approaching the BBC rather than the other way around there is probably little chance of this being taken on. It depends whether its viable as a show but also on whether the BBC are belligerent enough in the face of charter renewal or not. Having lost a show pointedly singled out as an area it shouldn't be dabbling in, replacing it with another might be seen as inflammatory just now.

That said talent shows(public or celebrity) are still the number one shiny floor format, and as things stand there shouldn't be any barriers to the BBC being part of that genre. I guess the way its done has got to be somewhat different to make it stand out-but that's easier said than done.

EDIT: I just have this vague memory that Gary Barlow has pushed a format to the BBC before which was rejected-might be wrong.

please let this happen, just so we can hear you say how good and much better it is than the x factor when probably it will be crap, just like the voice is.

To be fair, the XF is now crap so the benchmark ain't very high.

Lordy can you imagine this threads relationship with the BBC with this kind of weekly result

Actually the way you present this as "arrived" reminds me of The Roxy which was ITV's short lived alternative to Top of the Pops. They kept plugging the supposed fact that their chart was the fastest and absolutely the most up to date that there was- which eventually interested Spitting Image to the extent they had Kid Jensen rambling on that he expected Acker Bilks "Stranger on the Shore" to chart the following week (bubbling under since 1961 )

Does anyone have a figure for Julia Bradbury's ''walks'' docco on ITV ? Interested as her last series was pulled after two episodes.

I'm sure that I read somewhere that the programme wasn't shown in Wales last night, which seems a bit bonkers with it being about a walk in Wales.

That might give it a slightly different rating.

I would agree, the fact that Norton is on holiday may have helped last night

Good rating, think 30 mins is better for these type of shows, instead of trying to stretch everything to a hour.

I believe that is correct, there's a separate thread on it in Broadcasting

It's being shown in Wales tomorrow lunchtime apparently, does seem a bit of a strange decision

It's a wonderful joy to see the air deflate from ftv's desire to see anyone who leaves the BBC punished. Has really made my day.
