Phenomenal effort from the boys today , Great in defence ,Higson was immense in defence and attack thank goodness for the video ref thought he got them all right on watching them back , 2 from 2 pressure on the SL clubs now
In my mind, I remember Leigh trying to front up and physically intimidate teams when I've seen them in the past, giving away far too many silly penalties. They see, to have stopped that now, and they looked a much better because of it. |

Yes, it was a great win for Leigh, and well deserved. As you say, the video ref was right in all his calls, but there was some desperate and excellent last gasp defence involved too.

Some very one sided games again this week , For Batley and Featherstone is about gaining experience, a big game next week for us away at Featherstone |

True, but for Featherstyone it will also put lots of needed cash into their coffers. Home games against Leeds, Leigh and Hull KR, following from the bumper crowd against Bradford, is a fantastic result for them, and should be reason enough for other teams in the Championship to try to get into the middle 8.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the Batley dressing room after today's result. John Kear looked furious when he left the field after the hammering they got by London. I was surprised how one-sided the game was considering the two league games were much closer affairs.

What's everyone's thoughts on the super 8's are they working ? In every leauge you will always get dead rubbers so it's always going to happen , problem now is the top 4 is pretty well sorted so a few teams there is nothing to play for except pride
One thing that needs sorting is the disaplinary procedures it's pretty shambolic the level of inconsistency |

Terrible game again. Saints' ball control was amazingly poor. Wigan weren't much better, but their defence was up to the job.

6 from 6 for Leigh. looking increasingly like they will avoid the million pound game and go straight up.

Blimey. That's a fixture list and a half. Batley, you should do. If you get anything from the other three, it'll be a bonus

Is the Cup final usually on a Bank Holiday
Seems odd to have no other games when there would be better than average crowds |

But potentially 2 of the 4 games in the Super 8's would be postponed anyway
The bank holiday weekend in August has been the date for a few years now Still seems odd scheduling though |

Why ? When would you have it ?
I just think that a BH weekend is a big opportunity for clubs/teams to attract 'casual/lapsed' spectators I've no idea on the figures , but I always assume that attendances with all sports are higher than usual on Bank Holiday weekends and with lots of clubs short of cash it would seem an ideal opportunity to increase their revenues |

I guess the availability of Wembley is key to the choice of dates

Indeed. We go every year for the whole weekend. In fact, we love it so much that we now go down on Thursday.
And it's always on August Bank Holiday, which is fine by me, as it means we can get the late Sunday train and no one has to worry about work on Monday. |
