Salford would have been in the super 8's without the points deduction, from when that was imposed and the appeal lost the team have spiraled. I dread to think what would have happened to the club had they lost yesterday. Hopefully next year will be a bit quieter for us.

Just seen viewing figures for the qualifier Hull KR v Huddersfield game 53,000 thought it would have been higher than that , be interesting to see what the million pound game figures are

As a neutral, I really enjoyed the Million Pond Game, and I think the concept is fair for all, as teams will go into the game knowing what is at stake on both sides.

Is it harsh if a team goes down, well yes, but they know what they have to do in order for them to not go down, and that is to win the game.

It was a fantastic ending, and one that I couldn't really belive actually happened.

The only other time that I can think of something like that match was I think Leeds at Huddersfield a few years ago, where they scored a last second try to win the game.

Credit to both sides it was a tremendous match, and one that certainly will go down in the annals of time, as one of the craziest finishes to a rugby league match ever.

This finish in a way, will only but seal the fact that the authorities will want to see this match continue, as what better advertisement do they now need for hyping up such a style of match?!

Looking forward to the Grand Final now, no way will that have such a finish, I think that will be safe to say!

Nobody is saying no relegation but this is a barbaric and stupid game just to keep Sky happy. The fact that fans from both sides were scrapping on the pitch afterwards ( unheard of in RL ) shows how serious this result was. As Tony pointed out, Salford lost to two Championship sides yet went up. Crackers. If you finish bottom you go down. People losing their jobs and livelihoods based on that drop goal is not right. Glad to see that rugby fans from all over the UK, including Salford, saying the same.

And, unlike football, you don't get a parachute payment when you go down. You go from full time to part time in the kick of a ball.

That sort of finish (the drop goal), or a last minute point for arguments sake could still happen in the last round of games to send a club down, even if it were just a straight one up, one down sort of format, if the points were that close come the end of a season.

So let's not put all the weight on such an event, as unimaginable as it was, it could have been a blow away score type match, and it would still have had the same end result, if a club going up and down in this match.

The fighting afterwards was not acceptable no matter the circumstances, and no leeway or excuses should be made for it.
Running on the pitch and celebrating etc is I think fine after a match like this, but fighting is most certainly not.

I of course feel sympathy and empathy for a relegated club, as it is a huge step down, but as always, you get punished if you don't win enough games, and as long as there will be promotion and relegation (whatever the format), this will be the case, if you don't want to be relegated, then it really is a simple case of winning games.

It is sad to see clubs that I liked watching growing up like Bradford struggling now, but that is the way with sport, and will always be the case.
One of my favourite pair of players were the Paul brothers, and so I do have a small spot for Bradford due to that reason, so I do hope that they sort themselves out.

WRONG - Rovers did NOT lose the most games. They did NOT finish bottom. So that argument is wrong. You are saying you win the least games you go down. I agree, therefore the team at the bottom.

Of course it could happen in the last game of the season but the chances are remote, the million pound game is cruel and treated like a play off final. That utter ***** Koukash parading with a cheque in front of the Rovers fans. Sky might want that but i seriously dont think rugby league fans do. I was at a rugby event on Monday night which was attended by players, an ex GB coach and hundreds of Hull FC fans. The general consensus ? It was a dark day for rugby league on Saturday.

The chances of a finish like what we saw in this game were very remote as well, let's not try and say that this is something that happens quite often!
The finish was unbelievable, and not one that anyone could have predicted before the game kicked off, I know for sure that I didn't think it would end like that!

Of course one cannot predict how a chav like the Salford owner will behave, but that shouldn't be held against the format, as you will not get owners like him at each and every club (thank goodness).

Agree Darren it's completely barbaric , the challenge cup is for knockout rugby not this , If the format stays like it is play 7 games and the top 4 in super league not have a million pound game ( the impact will be well more than a million to Hull KR ) and to have players contracts torn up is totally unacceptable, players wondering if they have a job or not , how can Hull KR build a team ? their players will be cherry picked by SL clubs and also the top championship players have all been signed up so they are left in no mans land . This is not the way to treat our teams in RL

I don't like the whole concept of the super 8's the top 4 was decided ages ago and there so many dead games , fans are leaving the game and viewers are turning off in their droves things need to change

It wouldn't have been a shock had Salford gone down that Koukash would have walked away, and the club would have folded if they didn't go straight back up. The move to the new stadium hasn't worked for them, as getting to the stadium for the core of it's fan base is a pain in the backside, and the area it is in isn't going to generate a new core. That's how brutal this system is, I hope for the sake of rugby that Hull KR survive, they did so previously when they were not in the top flight.

This whole mess would have been preventable had we a simple 1 or 2 team up and down system in place. I really don't care about the fact some teams in the Championship don't have a "suitable" ground, how are they going to generate money to improve said ground without being able to achieve Super League status? The RFL took Murdoch's gold and ever since it's been paying for it since day one. Franchises, mergers, summer rugby and so much more right up till this.

Just another point, I never said that Hull finished bottom, I said that if they didn't want to be in this situation, then they should have won more games, then it would have been someone else in this position, as the format is as it is, then someone will always be in trouble, it was just that Hull were the very unlucky side this year.

I hope for their sakes that they can somehow recover, as it is not at all good to see such a well known name and if you want "brand" not being in the top tier of club rugby league.

The format is flawed, it's dangerous and is no good for rugby league or any other sport. I watch enough sports with different play off systems in situe and they are a lot fairer and don't produce anything like this game.

It is a bit of a messy situation, I will say that, and of course any system or format can and should always be looked at to see if it can be improved.

Hopefully this will be the case in future seasons, but since this match had such a crazy, or unbelievable ending, then that will only be to its detriment in terms of trying to change it, as it would have been TV gold, to have such a finish, so they will be pushing to keep it as it is, as they will want more games finishing like that.

Crowd trouble in rugby league is hardly 'unheard of'.

The side that wins the most games in a season may not be the side that wins the Grand Final, no different in my eyes (League Leaders Shield is hardly the crowning glory of the sport). Everyone knows the rules at the start of the season and its something teams have to live with.

I dont recall this level of "moaning" last season when this match was played. Was that because all 4 clubs that season who "dropped down" into the Super 8's retained their place in Super League?

There was a lot of moaning GD that Leigh didn't go straight up.

Super League will suffer too.. No Derby. Magic weekend just got weaker and one of the best supported sides away from home just went down. All clubs will get a little less revenue next season, especially Hull FC. On the other hand Whitehaven and Featherstone are rubbing their hands

Probably was , Bradford got the same as the previous season so didn't lose out
London will get just £1000 less than Hull KR next season
