Well in games without a video ref its just the same, the ref has to make the decision on what he thinks is right. Only no chance to overturn it

You are in a "everything is wrong with the game" mood today aren't you ?
But the point is with the video replay you don't need to force a ref to make a decision. Sometimes the ref will just not know for certain and in those situations why not let the video ref make the decision based on what he can see. If the ref can't call it, the touch line official can't call it have someone who can call it.

Personally i would do away with the video ref full stop. Its not in 80% of matches so get rid altogether.

Interesting point but couldn't they just use the video ref in all games?

I am guessing Sky pay for the TV games but the ones not on TV you don't need the big screen do you? Couldn't the RFL just pay for the technology required for the ref without a big screen at the games.

I read Rugby Union in England has it at every game.

Not enough refs , the top refs are doing 2 games a week and linesmen duties as well , then you would need them in the middle 8,s as well when that starts I would get rid too

The Hull KR decision on Friday shows how flawed it is , if the ref had signalled a try it would be a try cause he said no try it wasn't that's not right

Wasn't the problem on that decision was the ref said no try for the feet not being in play however the video ref couldn't just overturn that as he has to look at the grounding as well.

Wouldn't it be better if the ref could send it upstairs for a specific reason and then that's what the video ref will either confirm or overturn?

I guess the RFL budget doesn't stretch this far:

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/l...22-gn0ldz.html

I don think you could get rid completely. It would make the sport a bit of a joke taking away technology when other sports now all have it.

Football has technology to determine if a ball crossed the line. Do keep up.

Just like rugby league they don't need technology to rule on every law in the book.

I do know that but that is one rule and one piece of technology which gets used a handful of times a season, not a game. They don't rely on technology for handballs, penalties, free kicks, offsides, red or yellow cards, fouls....need I go on ?

So at least one amateur team guaranteed a place in the next round

I am not so sure to be honest Tony. Would it do the game any favours if they show a drubbing ? Plus, who would watch it ? Not many I reckon, a lot less than will watch a repeat of Bargain Hunt

London v featherstone Dewsbury v Bradford decent ties , don't think BBC will come in till round 6 maybe 5 if we or Bradford got a SL team or 2 SL teams of the 4 were drawn together

As much I love the cup a good cup run is the last thing we need we are down to bare bones and a fixture backlog did us no favours last season

but the whole point of showing early rounds in the cup is due to a chance of an upset. If anybody, say Sky, were going to show a game from that round surely it would be one featuring an amateur side rather than two Championship sides who play a few times in the season anyway.

Your right on that , there would be some drubbings which isn't what we want to see

The only point Is for the championship to get some coverage it gets none because sky have cut back on coverage , no mention at all anywhere about our game with Bradford although they will show the summer bash and middle8,s

Despite being a fan for 30 years, I've never been to a match at Dewsbury. If that match doesn't clash with Leeds game that week, I might go to that tie.

It doesn't. Leeds play Saints on the Friday.

I spent a month in Dewsbury one week

So they are. So they were wrong when posting matches to be played 19-20 as that is on the 18th.

The West Riding station pub is always worth a visit, especially on sunny afternoons.

No matter how hard we try, the Northern hemisphere cannot ever match the Southern when it comes to producing sheer idiots.

"Sydney Roosters have suspended scrum-half Mitchell Pearce for eight National Rugby League games after he was filmed committing a lewd act with a dog."

I worked a week there in 1997. Very friendly people. I have visited that pub too. Did the Real Ale Trail from Hull to Stalybridge last summer. Lovely drop

Yep and his lucky they never sacked him. Will be interesting to see if NSW pick him although to be honest I don't think Pearce was quite at the level required for Origin.
