Will people please stop "claiming" that the age of 22 is a "fully grown woman". No it is not. It is barely out of adolescence and the human body is even still growing (albeit slightly) at that age, not to mention massive room for emotional development.

Plus, this girl has clear psychological issues and deep insecurities.

These are not "excuses", but facts. The others (particularly the supposedly more mature ones) have handled her emotional state in that house quite poorly up to this point IMO, although I appreciate she can be infuriating!

A 22 year old is an adult.

Oh, come on. 22 IS a fully-grown woman. I say that as a 23-year-old. Do I have the knowledge and experience of a 60-year-old? Obviously not. But I find it a bit demeaning to say people in their early twenties aren't fully-grown adults when many have degrees and jobs and relationships, and a considerable number have kids themselves.

I class maturity by conduct, not by age, nor label.

They're "adults", but not FULLY developed. This is a scientific fact.

And as for emotional development. We can debate that one all night if you like!

It makes absolutely no sense the argument that "two fully grown adults are picking on me, a 22 year old girl". It's actually insulting to claim 22 year olds aren't adults and I've no idea where she's plucking that from

22 is fully grown
We all continue to develop emotionally and psychologically for our whole life.
As I explained to you, I know 22 year olds who are in command in combat zones, we have 22 yr old paramedics.
22 is not a baby.
How stupid.

...And I certainly didn't mean it in a "demeaning" way at all. Sorry if it came across that way. Just referring to what is known in terms of human development (especially the key emotional stages). I fully appreciate people at that age have jobs and go to uni, but people have jobs - and can have kids - at 16 and are obviously not fully grown at that point

It's what her mum tells her when she messes up.
"It's not your fault you don't know any better you're only a 22yr old,girl."
She's such a brat

I've never seen anyone so emotionally stunted and backward as Steph, poor thing. She's like a 12 year old girl giggling over the fit boy in Youth Club

Sorry but i don't agree.I was running a ward at the age of 22 and in charge of patients lives. I hope I wasn't at a baby age then. Imagine me or any other nurse shouting out "I'm only 22 and they are fully grown women" when the female doctors came on to do a round

Don't be ridiculous. Of course 22 is an adult. Maybe if she was 20 she could maybe be classed as a girl. Only because years ago, 21 was the legal age for an adult. But I do find it patronising when people say that twenty somethings are babies. Do People realise that you can get married go to work and have babies of your own by then. No way should people in their twenties should be called babies.

Spot on.
My friends daughter is 22, she is staff on dialysis ward.
Imagine her being a baby!

in Stephs VT on launch night she referred to herself as a teenager. I thought that was weird.

Yes, a really spoilt brat. She is not immature at all, just playing people for mugs. No doubt a lot of gullible voters will fall for it.

I meant "baby" in the sense of it being a very young age - in the CONTEXT of the range of ages in life and the comparison of Steph's age to the more mature housemates. People are still growing into their 20s (all you need to do is google it and you'll see loads of sites relating to this).

I guess I'll take flak for my thread, but so be it. I know this is an actual fact, although it was not said in any condescening way AT ALL - I didn't mean it in that way!

I don't buy that at all. Remember she's a professional actress (and doing it very well as far as this show is concerned anyway)

Looks like she's been babied all her life to me and thinks she can pull out the "I'm only 22!" card to get people off her back/sympathy.

Only she doesn't seem to realise that this is very patronising to other 22 year olds who might be holding down responsible jobs, being carers, are parents or just other 22 year olds who feel grown up and don't feel the need to babify themselves, ones who own their behaviour and don't feel the need to make idiotic excuses.

About time she grew up if you ask me.

Can you read?
I actually stated in my post that you are arguing with that we all continue to develop. Now you are telling me to google that!

Anyway, 22 isn't a baby and it's nothing even close to being a fact.
Carry on making an utter fool of yourself

Exactly. You're only at the start of adulthood and you're going to mess it up sometimes, obviously, but you're still an adult.

GrozzyGirl - I respect your views, but there is no need to be so personal. If you disagree fine, but please lay off the "snipes".

I meant google the fact that people are still PHYSICALLY growing in their early 20s. Scientific fact. Something which you disagreed with (and I read it clearly).

You said:

22 is a fully grown adult.
however, the physical maturity is no reflection on the mental maturity- a lot of which is down to environment and how one has been raised.

it's quite obvious that a child that has been mollycoddled and protected all its young life is not going to b as mentally prepared for adult life as a child which has been raised to be thoughtful of others and allowed a degree of independence.
