I have the Galaxy Note 10.1 with S pen. I confess to not understanding the Android o/s at all. I've got the Which guide, Dummies, and a couple of other Tablet and Android paperbacks. None of them really make it clear how the system works (not to me, anyhow). My daughter managed overcome the padlock to my internet provider (EE), but when I tried to open the S Suggest app, just to see what it was about, a message said Unable to connect to network, try again, but without success. Checking my WiFi connection again, I see the padlock symbol is still visible (does this mean I am not connected to my internet supplier, if so, how do I remove the padlock). I managed to get the point where I could type in my Wireless Network Password, but this does not remove the padlock. Is the S Suggest Network the same as the Wireless Network.

I am seriously thinking of outing this Android device and replacing it with a tablet that is more straight forward to operate. I bought it originally for its drawing potential Does anyone else have similar problems finding their way round these tablets.

It seems that problems with wifi are common on this model.

From Google various suggestions were offered.

1) One was to check the date is correct on your tablet. (and the time as well)

2) There might be a problem with software called Sidesync
If you have it on your tablet then uninstall it. If you don't know how to do that then just ask. It's in System settings under Apps I think but I haven't used Android for a while.
(you might be able to disable Sidesync instead)

3) Bluetooth being on might cause issues. If it's on then turn it off.

If this doesn't work then I suppose you could try to reset the tablet. You will lose all your personal data and settings and any files like pictures etc etc. So save them to all SD memory card.

If that doesn't work you could try to Google "Galaxy Note 10.1 won't connect" and perhaps join a specialist forum for this model and ask the experts.

Doesn't the padlock icon just mean it's a secure network (requiring a key) rather than an open network with no key? If you can attach to the (EE broadband?) wifi network by using the key then don't worry about it.

S suggest is just a Sansumg app for recommended apps from the Play Store. If your internet connection is OK but app doesn't work it's probably just a problem with the app itself.

As often Dunroamin, you are overthinking things rather than just using the tablet.

The correct wifi symbol is a fan-type signal meter with arrows underneath, if it's a padlock then there is a problem with the password/authentication.

As I said, apparently the thing to try first is to check date/time on the tablet.
If that doesn't work then to "forget" the network (on the tablet), reboot the router, then to re-select the network on the tablet (and re-input network password)

Also select "always on" in advanced wifi settings.
